Nov 27, 2016 - Hope, AR

Hope Arkansas is the birthplace of former US President William Jefferson ... Clinton! My first reaction is that we never had a president by that name, but... Oh, Yeah! They mean Bill! Our campground here is a town park, listed as a park with RV sites and open, but it is almost deserted. The 'office' is the park management office, the park is mostly playgrounds, baseball fields, and a large horse arena. It reminds me of a combination town park and fairgrounds. The RV hookups are in open fields of grass. The cost is $15 per night, and there...

Sep 13, 2016 - Hope & Clinton

We are now in Hope, the birthplace of President Clinton. We are staying at the local city park/fairgrounds. We have 50 amp power and water for only $15.00 a night. Clinton lived in this home the first 4 years of his life. It is not the original furniture but furniture of that era.

Nov 13, 2015 - Postcard 6

November 13, 2015 Road Trip Journal: Postcard 6 Waffles, warm syrup, blueberries, bacon, yogurt, coffee, and tea for breakfast. Sad goodbyes to everyone, then off to continue our road trip across America. From Huntsville, Alabama to Denton, Texas is about 11 plus hours. Not sure we will make it all the way through today, especially since we are stopping at Elvis’s Graceland. We took the Graceland Tour as well as the tour of Elvis’s two airplanes. Wow, I forgot that the décor of that era was quite gaudy; fabric covered walls and ceilings,...

Apr 9, 2014 - Hope, AR - Apr 2014

After leaving the Austin area and the wonderful McKinney Falls State Park, we spent the night in Brenham, TX at the local Elks Lodge. Then on to Livingston to the Escapee Rainbow's End to do some laundry. Goodbye Texas! Our next stop, Hope, Arkansas. What is in Hope, AR you ask? Well, JC wanted to see Bill Clinton's childhood home. It is now a National Monument. Visitors are allowed the opportunity to walk through the house with a very knowledgeable state park officer/docent. Pretty interesting. We found a nice campground at the local...

Mar 13, 2014 - DIAMONDS!!

Sun Mar 9 – Hello AK Today we headed down the road under pleasant conditions about 260 miles to the campground at the fairground in Hope, AR. This is the first time in Arkansas for both of us. You know what that means – another bead for Ginger! Hope is the birthplace of Bill Clinton and, of course, there is a museum there – we passed on that. Mon Mar 10 This morning we headed up to the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro in dense fog. Along the way we were delayed for about 40 minutes by an accident. These folks don’t have a good...

Apr 29, 2011 - Long drive from Houston to Hope, AR

We drove quite a ways after Ian got his schoolwork done. It was about 350 miles. It made for a very long day. I stopped and signed up for the Escapees membership so I'll get a decent discount at different parks. It looked like there were a lot in several places we will be. While I was signing up for the Escapee membership Percy somehow escaped from his cage and crawled up on top of the spare tire. So there I was crawling under the truck getting filthy to grab, from a very uncomfortable position, my baby brat. He looked so scared when I got...

Palmer Family 2011

Feb 2, 2010 - In Hope Arkansas tonight.

Hi All, We are in Hope AR tonight. I didn't want to stop here because this is the birth place of SLICK WILLIE Clinton but I was tired of driving after 511 miles today so I stopped anyway. We plan to get to Midland TX tomorrow night. This is a much classier place with the George Bush Presidential Museum. We will be there for my short work week leaving Saturday morning. No pictured yet. Been too busy. Mom sleeps about 90% of the time but is eating good. I told her tonight that we were going to AZ and she was going to get into her bathing suit...

Jan 23, 2009 - Hope, Arkansas

We ended up staying 2 nights in Hope, Arkansas because of Jill’s having a little medical problem. It was a long drive to Hope, so we needed an extra day of rest anyway. We did laundry, took a short tour of the city of about 10,000, and took a picture of Bill Clinton’s birthplace. How many of you knew this piece of trivia? Saturday afternoon, there was a horse barrel run right across from where we were camped. We went over, watched, and shot a few action pictures of a contender rounding a barrel.

Jan 22, 2009 - On the road again-Heading West

After spending a wonderful Christmas and New Years Eve with family and looking at our camper sitting all loaded up in our driveway, we finally started out on our trip to Arizona. Our plans were to leave before New Years eve, but Jill had some health problems that needed addressed. There is still a slight problem, but we are forging ahead thinking positive that all well go all right. We left Washington Thursday morning at 10:00 and spent our first night at Sikeston, Mo in a passport park. Rating is "very passport". We traveled to Hope,...

Apr 24, 2007 - Dallas TX to Hope AR

Another poor nights sleep later I headed into downtown Dallas with three places to check out - Dealey Plaza, the Record Grill and the Reunion Tower. With the skies cloudy and visibility poor, I decided it was perhaps a little pointless going up onto the observation deck so headed straight for the Record Grill to treat myself to some breakfast. Mark from this site had suggested I should check it out and I was determined to do so - yet I was unable to locate it - even after pulling up and using an unsecured wireless connection to look for a...
