Mar 7, 2012 - Long Hard Day

I hope I don't hurt anybody's feelings but Arkansas has the worst roads we have ever been on. We are in a campground that is behind a Motel 6 and only have 30 amp. We stayed one other time and knew this wasn't the best but Arkansas don't have many campgrounds. It is OK for a one night stay. We are having trouble with our truck so we may be looking for a place to stay in Memphis until we can get the truck looked at. Oh well things could be worse. Calling for rain tomorrow. We traveled 288 miles today.

Don't wake me up

Sep 29, 2011 - Bad Mistake

This is the only campground we have stopped at that we drove away and would not stay. We had called ahead but not made reservations. When we saw it we decided to keep driving. Was mostly old trailers and junk everywhere. They were working on the electric boxes. We went to next passport America campground and had trouble finding it because it was behind a motel. Was not real good but was just staying for one night.

Don't wake me up

Feb 20, 2011 - Cotton & Hawks

Either US motels are starving to death or Canadian Motels are ripping us off, probably a little of both. After a great Drury Inn sleep we wandered over for the "complimentary breakfast" - well, there was more there than we would eat in a month, a full breakfast - total out the door cost for room & breakfast $49.00! I 55 runs south and takes one from Sikeston to Memphis, it`s dead level, straight as a dye and every time we`ve driven it it`s polluted with red tailed hawks. One year we counted over 50 in the three hours, not that many this...

Jun 20, 2010 - Razorback Fathers Day

Fathers Day done Deppe style: sleeping in, a coupon for Lasik, homemade blueberry pancakes for brunch, an Art Vandalay for dinner, and 8 hours on the road with my kids. We stopped for the night at Heritage RV (the dumpy little back lot of the Heritage Motel) for only $16.50.

May 9, 2008 - Day 19 - Conway AR to Brinkley AR

Since today was a short day, only 100 miles, we slept in an extra hour before our planned departure at 8:00. During breakfast at the hotel, we could see that it had begun to drizzle outside. As usual, everyone was contemplating what to wear. The temperature was a mild 60°F and humid, and the skies were cloudy as far as we could see. The forecast was calling for morning rain, diminishing throughout the day. Just before loading my gear on the luggage truck, I decided I didn’t need my vest and that just my arm warmers would do. Just as we...
