Aug 20, 2013 - Barling AR - Springhill COE Park - John Paul Hammerschmidt Lake

We went to yet another great Corps of Engineers campground after leaving Rogers, this one near Fort Smith. We found several tourist things to do in Fort Smith while we were there. First stop was the Fort Smith Visitor center, which just happens to be located in the former "Miss Laura's Social Club". Miss Laura's is the first former bordello to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Before picking up our brochures on the area, we took a tour of the Miss Laura's. Mar 29, 2011 - Barling, Arkansas

This has been another rainy day. Thankfully, we got just about everything disconnected this morning and ready to go before the rain started. There was one site available for four nights. We drove by the site and there was a rv parked in. It was past check out time. We checked with the volunteer again. She said they were supposed to leave as they had been there 28 days, the limit for one stay. The rv...

Nov 9, 2008 - AR (or the real abbreviation for Arkansas)

We drove on and decided to stop in Oklahoma City. We had lunch and made a stop for Kitty supplies at Petsmart. Florian also got our “pet tag” for Livianna in case she gets lost! We decided for another try at the Zoo before moving on. This one was much bigger but really somewhat overwhelming and mostly shut down for winter (HA HA). We saw some sea lions, seals and had a brief look at some butterflies in their butterfly garden. They had meercats but we didn’t get to hang out and observe… Livi loved the jungle gym so much that we had to bribe...
