Jan 16, 2019 - Up and down weather...
Well I started this morning (Wednesday) in a fog. Now it had nothing to do with the fact we were up late last evening playing cards and dominos (chickenfoot to be exact). Mark and Sue came down to play and stayed until almost 11:00. But the left-over moisture from the rains yesterday caused a pretty severe fog for this area. A dense fog warning until 10:00 a.m. I made a picture about 8:20 as I left the exercise room. So now let me go back to Monday and play catchup. Monday morning was an exercise room day so I was off before 7:30. I was...Jump to full entry
Jan 13, 2019 - A beautiful day in Yuma
Today started a little later than normal. I hurried around and got Ziva to the Dog Park before 9:00 a.m. Then it was time for breakfast and prepping for today. Around noon Sue D. and Connie came by for a visit. They stayed about 30 minutes and I resumed watching the Patriots take the Chargers apart. What a relief that the game was really over by half time. Then the Saints game started. I spent some time outside cleaning and changing out some golf clubs. The sand is different out here and the rough is thin dried grass and not lush, heavy...Jump to full entry
Jan 12, 2019 - Happy Birthday to Sue...
Today is Sue's birthday. It has been a rough 35 days being the oldest in the household but she finally caught up with me. It is not important how many years old she is, but how many we have together. We have been experiencing birthdays together for the last 50 years. Mercy, that seems like a long time...but not really. I have enjoyed everyone and am looking forward to many more. Yesterday started in preparation for having the power turned off for four hours. The scheduled time was for 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We did everything we could do to...Jump to full entry
Jan 12, 2019 - Return to San Luis
We expected to get back to San Luis one day and explore it a bit. Not much there though(on the American side),we parked the truck walked up and down main street. The streets were filled with Mexican workers returning from the buses and shopping ,most carrying knapsacks returning home to Mexico. We then wandered into Food City and found some Mexican cookies that we enjoyed on our way back to Yuma. Overcast all day high of 17C with intermittent showers. San Luis is 22 miles south of Yuma.On the Mexican side the city is named San Luis...Jump to full entry
Jan 10, 2019 - One Of These Nights - Eagles Tribute Band
Never ever had the urge to see the Eagles while they were together and only had one album - "Hotel California" in my music collection. After watching this very good show tonight I would still say nothing has changed in my opinion of them. The Eagles were a great band but their contemporary lovey dovey slow bar songs did nothing for me. But I would certainly recommend this tribute band to anybody who likes their music because they will be blown away by their talents in recreating that sound. 24 C todayJump to full entry
Jan 10, 2019 - Two Beautiful Days...(shorts days)
Wednesday started with me heading for the fitness center. I arrived and did the same machines for my knees that I had done Monday. I added a couple of upper body machines - nothing strenuous but it felt good. Then back to the Bus to take Ziva for her early morning visit to the Dog Park. We arrived to an empty park. Oh no, this is a real problem for her now. Eventually four more dogs arrived and Ziva was happy. After about a 20 minute romp we headed back for the Bus. I needed breakfast as much as Ziva needed hers. We arrived and Sue was...Jump to full entry
Jan 8, 2019 - Finally warmer weather...
Monday started off with me waking up early. I...for some reason headed for the exercise room. I have avoided this for several years now, so not sure what possessed me but I went. I spent about 30 minutes down there trying to focus on exercises that would help my knees. When I returned to the Bus, Ziva was ready to go to the park. We headed that way and she was so disappointed to find we were the only ones there. After a few minutes "Jake" a young black lab joined her. He is a little young and a lot goofy but they ran together for a while...Jump to full entry
Jan 8, 2019 - Tribute Artist -Hank Williams Sr
Attended a show at the Yuma Arts Theater tonight. It was "Your Cheating Heart" a tribute show to Hank Williams Sr. It was very good, they also had a Patsy Cline tribute scheduled as well but that part of the show was lacking Patsy's vocal strengths. This was show 1 of 2 this week, the next show this Thursday will be an "Eagles" Tribute.Looking forward to returning as it is a great little theater with not a bad seat in the place. Our cold spell has moved on leaving us with temps in the low 20s and a constant breeze from the north, and sunny...Jump to full entry

Once again I will be wintering Jan-Feb in the 'Warmest Place in America', Yuma AZ. Also, I will be returning to the annual Quartzsite RV Show and RV Flea Market. Acres and acres of RV STUFF! I have a long list of needed stuff, like Water Filters, Happy Camper(black tank treatment), etc.....Jump to full entry
Jan 7, 2019 - Baby its cold outside!
Happy New year to everyone! Boy it has been cold here. It has been down into the 30's at night, and even though it warms up to the 50's during the day, there has been a cold wind here lately. I even had to get out my Elmer Fudd hat to take Zoey for a very brisk walk. It has been too blustery to sit outside, so we have had to focus on more indoor activities. And there are no trees, or large structures to slow the wind down, just wide open desert and lots of swirling dust. Yuck! We have also had some rain. Kinda sounds like Washington,...Jump to full entry
Jan 6, 2019 - some observations
First thing would be about garbage and the lack of any recycling. There may be other places in Arizona that do some kind of recycling but that effort is not seen here in Yuma. After staying here a month I can now vent without to much displeasure. ALL garbage here goes into the dumpster, beer bottles, aluminum pop & beer cans, any tins, plastics, cardboards, newspapers, etc. After living and breathing recycling in Canada for decades it is still difficult to make this toss, but I have resigned myself to the fact that "if they don't care"......Jump to full entry
Jan 6, 2019 - Slow time in the desert
Well it was time for a few slow days. Not totally stopped but at least a slower pace for a few days. Friday was one of those days. Connie stopped by in the late morning and visited for about an hour. We had not had a chance to visit with them since last March when we visited them here in the Palms. It was fun catching up on the last 10 months. She recommended we visit the Arizona Market Place. It was something we had seen on the list of things to do in Yuma earlier in the week so it was good to have confirmation it was worth the trip. After...Jump to full entry
