Feb 13, 2019 - Maybe we have made the turn

Well the deadline for going to the doctor was Monday morning. Sue woke up feeling a lot better. She still had a cough but not as bad and the rattle had diminished considerably. We decided the need to go to the doctor had diminished so I got ready to drive to Wellton and play golf. I had a great time as one of my playing partners was very good and patient as my driver decided it had some sort of sickness. On the back nine I put my sick driver in the bag and moved on to my 3 wood. I included a picture from the back nine of some of the...

Feb 10, 2019 - Happy Birthday to me!

Today is my birthday. I don’t make too much of a deal about it much anymore, but when so many people either call, text or post on Facebook, birthday wishes, it does feel good to be remembered. We are staying the night in Yuma Arizona. Tomoroow we meet our travelling companions to Mexico. For dinner tonight Mike is cooking Steak, Shrimp and Lobster on the grill. Should be yummy!

Feb 10, 2019 - Geocaching Mega

Day 33 - Sunday 10th February I was up just before 5am & managed to get a live feed on Viv’s computer to watch the Norwich City v Ipswich football match that was being shown on UK TV live. By the time I got it up & running I mixed the first goal but got a good feed & saw the rest of the match. Good result for Norwich, not so good for Ipswich. Our stay here coincided with a big geocaching meet in Yuma called a Mega so we wanted to go along & see how they do it here compared to the UK. We’ve been to a couple in England where we’ve camped for...

Feb 10, 2019 - Sick and slow for four more days

It has been slow with Sue still suffering from her head cold that has moved into her chest. She has coughed and rattled and felt awful. Thursday was a slow day and we took it easy. The only outings were to the store. Friday was another slow and awful day for Sue. I went to play golf at Mesa del Sol and was gone for about six hours. I picked up prescriptions for Sue and then to the Bus. We ordered food out and I went to pick it up for a little later than normal dinner. There was really nothing that sticks out about Friday other than Sue felt...

Feb 9, 2019 - Off To Yuma

Day 32 - Saturday 9th February We tucked $30 under the cover on the nearby propane tank as instructed to pay for the electricity we had here for the last two nights. We could have managed without the electricity but I wanted to have our little electric fire going at night because it has been cold. We also need electricity for the microwave oven otherwise we can’t cook much. Today we headed over to Yuma as there is a Geocaching mega meet there tomorrow so we wanted to go there to see how it compared with our UK meets. It was a long drive...

Feb 9, 2019 - Off we go - 4 day bus tour

Heading North Feb 10 -13 NO , we are not coming home, but are heading north some 500 miles to Zion National Park in Utah on a 4 day bus tour.We booked 2 bus tours two weeks ago not thinking about the weather…..then the *hit hit the fan with plummeting temperatures across the west! Going north into temperatures where 4 and -4 is in the forecast is not to exciting! We were going to call the travel agent tomorrow to see if said trip was going to be canceled since there was a 10 inch dump of snow that just fell in Zion! She called this morning...

Feb 6, 2019 - Follow up to last nights post

Well last night I got distracted or sleepy but none the less, I failed to comment on my title of the post. Let me explain before I cover today. The Marine Air Station is only 4 miles west of us. Early yesterday morning we could hear the jets moving and often. Most headed north or west toward California and did not come out in our direction. Since there was a pretty steady wind yesterday of about 15 miles an hour, the planes did not approach from our direction either but there was an almost constant roar of the jets taking off and landing....

Feb 5, 2019 - The Marines are in the air...

Monday was a slow starter. I went with Ziva to the Dog Park early and was back starting breakfast by 8:15. Sue had slept on the couch so she could sleep with her head elevated and not disturb me with her coughing. I got ready to head to Wellton to play golf. I have found a group I enjoy playing with and that makes the course and the drive tolerable. Once Sue assured me she was going to be okay with me 25 miles away, I was off. She had breakfast on her terms and spent the day taking it easy and taking all of her medication on time and...

Feb 4, 2019 - Old Yuma

Two updates today: Felicity and Old Yuma. I am really getting behind myself. Carol and Don were my hosts on my final full day in Yuma. They are another wonderful couple I met on the HitchHiker forum and in person the first time at our B&B II rally in Maricopa, Arizona, March 2010. They are snowbirds from Utah and have spent many winters in the Arizona desert at different locations. I drove to the lot where their HitchHiker is parked this year at the far eastern end of Yuma out in the beautiful desert foothills. I wanted to see how my truck...

Feb 3, 2019 - Friday, Saturday, Sunday and SIX!!!

Friday was one of those days. Sue still felt bad but good enough for me to leave her and go play golf. I went to a new course for me...Mesa del Sol. It is an Arnold Palmer designed golf course and is in the best shape of any course I have played out here...but, they have it over played while they can. It was 18 holes of hit and wait. Five hours is too long for 18 holes of golf. The course is in the best shape and it was the most expensive of any I have played out here. I felt like I was paying by the hour and they had to stretch it out to...

Feb 3, 2019 - A Little Place Called Felicity

On Sunday, February 3, Jan and I crossed Hwy. 10 from our RV park and visited the unique incorporated city (est. population 4) of Felicity, California. Jacques-Andre Istel, a Frenchman who fought in the Korean War for us, married a Chinese lady, bought thousands of acres in the Sonoran Desert and wanted to create something of value - hence, the 'city' which he named after his wife, Felicia. In coordination with Imperial County in California, and the Institut Geographique National of France, he declared the town the Center of the World,...

Feb 1, 2019 - This Mexico was not on the Beach

Thank goodness for friends. Trap and Jan have been extraordinarily wonderful distractions from my truck woes. The first full day here in Yuma, I did nothing. Even my mind was in park and the engine shut off. Well, Trap and I did go buy a tire and he insisted on doing the work himself. So getting a photo of Trap under my rig was a good distraction in itself. Basically, though, I just shut down and turned off the mind that first day. On Thursday, Trap and Jan took me to Algodones, Mexico. Boy! What an experience. "You want that carving? Only...
