May 17, 2013 - History of the Necco

We went in to the doctor’s office at 0730 this morning for my last procedure. Unfortunately, my veins are too small and twisted for the procedure to work. After 45 minutes he gave up and I am to come back on Wednesday being sure to walk a bit before the appointment and drinking all the water I can hold to fatten up my vein. I was disappointed as it means we will have to stay here longer and probably have to give up our plans for a visit to Las Vegas, as our friends won’t be there after the 25th. While waiting for the doctor this morning...

May 16, 2013 - A mama protecting her young

We were taking Toby for his morning walk and as we came past a tree a dove flew down in front of us on the road. She was flapping her wings and seemed to be walking on one leg. Toby immediately took notice and tried to go towards her. Of course we held him back as he watched her go further away from the tree. It looked like she was attempting to fly as she hopped further down the road. I said to John “oh, no, is she injured?” He said “no, she is pretending to be so Toby will try to go for her and direct us away from the tree and her nest”....

May 15, 2013 - Wednesday in Yuma

Third procedure done today on the left calf. Hurt like heck, but not surprised. I don’t know whether it is better to know that you are going to be in pain or to be totally oblivious and perky. Maybe perky is the best. Anyhow, the leg is very swollen. Looks like balloon. Just think, you will only get one more update and then it will be on to another subject. Hang in there! We passed a restaurant today that said “boneless chicken wings” which made me think. Who bones them? They are so little, how can you possibly bone them and have any meat...

Apr 19, 2013 - Last Look at Arizona

Yesterday we drove to Yuma and stopped at an RV service place because two of our lights in the van had burned out—the ones over the kitchen area, which makes it a bit difficult to prepare meals and clean up. Of course, we found that they were no longer Pleasure Way dealers and could not even order the parts for us, so it looks like we may just do the cooking in the daytime for the rest of the trip. It's a hassle to find service places and they usually have to order parts which would take longer than we want to stay in one place. The RV park...

We did our final exploring of Yuma, The Gateway Park is the gateway to West Coast and East Coast when they finished the "Coast to Coast Highway bridge and built a railroad bridge across the Colorado River, The Hilton Gardens, located in the Gateway Park and has a unique bar with an "ice Cold strip" running down the middle of the bar, it is called the "ice bar". Apr 3, 2013 - Yuma 2, Robertson's 0

The Marine base here is Air Marine. Helicopters, fighter jets, and transport copters are in the air all day long. It appears there is a quiet time from 11pm to 8am. That is when the free range chickens , emus, and roosters next door wake them up. There maybe a few Ostriches in there too but debate did not end with conclusive decision. We eat a hearty breakfast and took off for the prison. It's an interesting place, filled with history of the area. when the prison was closed because of over population it was used for a high school. From the...

Apr 2, 2013 - Yu-must Take a Nap in Yuma

We were ready to go this morning at 9am. Hitched up and at the gate when Dick noticed that the propane tank door was open. The tray was broken and the tanks were not safe with just the door latch. While he was tending to this a woman was honking her horn wanting us to move. We had backed up enough that a 50' motorhome could have passed us and went through the gate. She was in a " clown car" that could have been driven through the pedestrian gate. This did nothing to ease my husbands what to do, what to do! I mentioned a couple of times that...

Mar 30, 2013 - Touring Downtown Yuma

We ate lunch at the Historic Garden Cafe, the grounds were extremely beautiful; however, the meal did not measure up. We then went next door to the historic Sanguinetti House. We learned a lot about Yuma from the video and exhibits inside, we then walked around the gardens very beautiful and peaceful. We then went to Martha's Garden Date Farm, voted best date shake in Yuma, we have to agree, it is the best.
