Mar 9, 2013 - Why 2 Welton

We arrived here at the boon-docking site south of Wellton, AZ on 29th ave, located just before the canal, about 2 miles from the hwy. We are camping 200 ft from where we were last year. Went shopping in Yuma, it sure is easy to get around, when you've been there before. the Marine Corps have an air show this weekend.

Jan 27, 2013 - Winding our way to Wellton

We've had a productive couple of weeks in Casa Grande. I'm caught up from my extended stay in Ireland, at least caught up on laundry and mail. Mom is doing well and we're all really happy about that. We've had a couple of great dinners out with Joe & Barbara. We went to an interesting place in Tucson, Daisy Mae's Steakhouse. The food was quite good, a bit pricey, and the biggest turn-off was a screaming child at a nearby table. The old building has some colorful history, possibly the oldest building in Southern Arizona. The story goes that...

Nov 23, 2012 - Back in Southwest Arizona

We drove from Indio, Ca. to just east of Yuma, Az. ..... a distance of 146 miles. This is our 27th stop since we started this year's journey back on April, 1st. We have towed Serenity about 3244 miles and added more miles on top of that to journey out and about in the truck. Our plan was to stay here for 7 days and then spend a month in Casa Grande, and then a month in Benson. But once we arrived here, we decided to just stay put for the next 5 months and we can 'nest' in the solitude of the desert with full hook-ups for about $9 a day! :-)...

Feb 22, 2012 - A Fish Fry in the Desert?

Yep, you read that right! A fish fry here in the desert. Marilyn and Denny read that the Beach Club and Grill over in Wellton (approximately 25 miles east of Yuma) has a catfish fry every Wednesday night and invited us to join them as well as Johnny and B.J. for a fun evening out! The catfish was by far some of the best either of us remember being served and we all even managed to go another Wednesday night while still here. Have no idea where it was shipped from, but it was awesome - and it was all you could eat! And yes, there were a few...

Feb 21, 2012 - Boon-docking rookies

This is our first time camping in the dessert, we are here with Rick and Joyce. I got the solar panels hooked up. But i have found that one of the batteries is hooped.(remember, replace all batteries if one is faulty) Figure out that tomorrow. We have realized that if we wanted to watch tv at night we will have to run the generator. There are some RV'ers here with a ton of solar panels. why not just have a wind turbine? A Truck alternator would charge batteries in 8 hrs? its a thought. We are just outside of Welton(2 miles) Its free rent....

One of the ladies from the park was cooking cinnamon buns in the clubhouse, mmmm, smelling gooooo--ood!! I met the new people that just arrived today, more on them later. We went back to our clubhouse at the park and had a snack hour with refreshments. I ended meeting the other people in the corner, by...

Feb 11, 2012 - M & M RV resort, Welton AZ

Sat - Wow, what a drive over the mountains again. Lots of wind. Funny sight we saw a Casino on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere. Every kind of scenery that you can imagine possible. Hey, NO LUSH GREEN STUFF THOUGH. We actually saw and drove through Sand Dunes, pretty awesome. They could have film Lawrence of Arabia here, just up from the rest stop. We arrived at the rv site about 1:30, HOT and then it got warmer, +32c. Some one told me once, i think, that these motorhomes are one big SAIL i discovered that today. We finally came...

Nov 21, 2011 - Yuma for Winter

Benson, Arizona to Yuma, Arizona (278 miles) This will be our first winter as Full-Timers. We decided to spend 3-4 months in the Yuma area, and we arrived yesterday morning at our destination. We set up camp and decided to check out the local Church we will be attending for the next several months. It will be very difficult to continue to post 'Daily', since many of the days we probably will not journey to the 'Outside' at all. When I feel I have enough pictures for a 'Post', I will send you all our 'Updated' notice. Thanks for follow...

Apr 13, 2011 - Not much to see here

Last day before we get to San Diego. We did about 330 miles today, and it was very boring. Except for the wind gusts, which helped keep you awake. We found a decent RV camp site, more like a gravel pit but it has power, water and sewer. We'll be glad when this part of the journey is over.

Nov 6, 2010 - Wellton, Arizona

We arrived at George and Judy's place (my brother) in Wellton this evening. George has all the plug-ins, water and sewer for a motorhome right beside his house. He added that so he could have a motorhome, or visitors :), use that site. So we will be here for a few days, and will do some searching of RV Resorts while we are based at George's.
