Apr 1, 2013 - Surprise, AZ - April
01Apr2013 - Today is the last day of Geri and Bob's visit, time sure has flown by. We decided to make a visit to Old Town Scottsdale to see a "horse" Bob visited years ago. It was still there and he was happy to relive old memories! 02Apr2013 - We drove Geri and Bob to the airport this morning after sharing a breakfast of cinnamon rolls! It was a tearful goodbye, but we will see them in a short few months back in Florida in time to celebrate my birthday at the Mai Kai! 03Apr2013 - We caught up on some paperwork and housework we had...

Mar 8, 2013 - Believe It
I can't believe it is March already. i can't believe we have been here 2 months and I can't believe I have been sick for the majority of our time here. I can't believe we leave Arizona in just a few days and I can't believe we go on Daylight Savings Time this Sunday. Where did all the time go? I am finally feeling much better and after 3 trips to the Dr., I have pretty much gotten rid of the bronchitis after 2 separate z-pack treatments, my blood pressure is back to normal and my blood sugars are under control. I am still dehydrated (low...

01Mar2013 - Gene's overnight sleep study last month shows he needs to be using a CPAP machine. He will get set up on one in the next couple weeks. 07Mar2013 - Gene and I went to the movies today to see Life of PI in 3D. We thought it was a great movie and definitely worth seeing. It has been a long time since we have gone to a movie so we were shocked at spending almost $30 for tickets, popcorn and a soda especially at 1:10 in the afternoon! Good thing we both enjoyed it! 08Mar2013 - Happy Birthday to our grandson Jackson who turned 8...

Feb 16, 2013 - The Flu - Round Two
There are many things in life you would like to repeat - a great golf shot, a good bridge hand, fun times with friends, a beautiful sunset, rainbow, vista, etc. - but the flu is not one of those. And yet. We find ourselves again coughing, sneezing, body aches, fatigued and overall feeling crappy. I don't think it is the flu again, but definitely an upper respiratory infection. I am feeling better but Ed came home from the woodshop today and immediately took ibuprofen and lay down to take a nap, which he NEVER does. Apparently this is our...

02Feb13 - Today we played the 18 hole pitch n putt course at the resort. Interesting and challanging course, you pitch from the red flag to the coordinating numbered white flag then putt the ball into the hole. Sounds easy....not so much! Lots of fun and exercise too! Afterwards we stopped by the library to work on the jig saw puzzle and catch up on some reading. The best part of this day was a surprise call from Terri with an offer we could not refuse. She asked to bring steaks and asparagus if Gene would cook them on grill, how can you...

Jan 29, 2013 - Setting Records
So far, Arizona has not been a big hit with us. The flu really knocked us down and then there is the weird weather situation. I know the whole country has been experiencing unusual weather, so we are not alone, but we have only been here 3 weeks and have already set 2 records: The most days of below freezing temps in 25 years and now this past week, the highest rainfall total in January. It rained for most or part of a day for the past 5 days and one day we got 1" of rain. They only get 9" of rain all year, so this was a newsmaker. It has...

Jan 20, 2013 - Tucson RV Show
Got up this morning early enough to go to the RV park's Sunday "all you can eat pancakes & sausage". They were very tasty, I might add. In fact, they were darn good! We then headed for the Tucson RV Show to look around at some of the new RV's. We found one we really liked as well as the Palomino Columbus. It is the Coachman Brookstone Ruby, 32 ft 5th wheel. It had all the features of the Palomino, but a bit lower price. We really liked it. OH, yeaah...we really liked it. Now, if we could just win Lotto.... Hopefully, this coming early fall...

Jan 19, 2013 - Home in Benson
Yesterday we left Wild Horse Casino about 11:00. We had a great time and the good news was that my nasal strips helped 98%. Whew, what a relief…for both of us. We drove back to Surprise where I met up with John and Toby. I really enjoyed being with my friend for 2 days. We are so much alike it is amazing. John and I had appointments at the Chiropractor, got my body untwisted and off we went to St. David Resort. It was good to get home, but of course, I left things at Lois’s. We had dinner and went to bed early. That was my day. Today we...

18Jan13 - We will be heading to the Sunflower Resort in Surprise, AZ. for the next four months. We made it and are all checked in and setup. Now all we need is to get rid of all the illnesses that have been plaguing us (please)! 19Jan13 - Well today was a day devoted to the HHR! First we took it to the car wash, after dragging it across country it was really dirty. We left the car wash, drove to lunch and realized they did not do such a great job so we decided to take it back. As we headed towards the car wash noticed a problem with the...

Jan 18, 2013 - Flu
Well, we found the sun AND the flu. We left Kerrville, TX in the rain and cold and drove all day mostly in the rain. Ed wasn't feeling up to par and said his throat was getting sore, but we kept going until we reached Las Cruses, NM just after dark. I had put the Walmart address in the Garmin and somehow managed to put in the wrong address, so when we got off the freeway, we turned the wrong way. After driving for several miles in the city, we decided something was wrong. It was a matter of GI/GO (garbage in/garbage out). We must be the...

Jan 17, 2013 - Godzilla at the Hotel
Today we slept in till 10:30 a.m. I think it was because neither of us slept well. Lois because my snoring kept her awake, and me cause she kept waking me up. John has always told me that I snored really bad, but he is deaf, so I didn’t think too much of it. Lois, however, said it was like sleeping with Godzilla. Geez, I didn’t know it was that bad. So, we went to the store today and I got some nose strips, and Lois got ear plugs, plus I am going to sleep with 3 pillows….all hoping this will work. Keeping my fingers crossed that I am quiet....

Jan 16, 2013 - Wild Horse Casino
For those of you who have followed our journal since the beginning, the photos will look familiar since we were here a year ago last February. For those who are new to our journal I think you will be impressed with the Casino. Started out this morning with a visit to the Chiropractor. Another great treatment, I am even walking straighter. I still have pain, but that will take some time before it goes away. Another appointment on Friday with John. We checked into the hotel first, then went to Chandler Village Mall. Very nice, impressive...
