2/23 Kitt Peak Today we drove about 45 miles west of Tucson and up to Kitt Peak to see the National Observatory. The 12 mile drive up the access road to Kitt Peak is, yet again, another great drive with fantastic views. More sensory overload!! Kitt Peak is at 6,875 feet and is the home of the National Observatory with it’s 4 meter telescope, the National Solar Observatory, the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope (the largest solar telescope in the World) and some 20 plus other telescopes/observatories.
