Apr 24, 2015 - Sedona, AZ and Oak Creek Canyon

It was partly cloudy with the threat of thunderstorms today, but we drove to Sedona anyway. It was gorgeous when we got there, then the clouds started getting darker and darker. And when we got to the Chapel of the Holy Cross the skies opened up and the thunder rolled. What better place to feel safe during a thunderstorm than inside this beautiful little chapel up on the hill! Most people get to see the chapel and view when the sun is shining, but we felt quite special to be able to see it from a different perspective. As we continued...

Apr 15, 2015 - Sedona, AZ

4/15/15 (Wednesday) We’re off to Sedona today. Left camp at 10 am and drove thru the little town of Jerome. It’s a quaint town situated on the mountain and sits on 3 levels. We stopped at the bottom of town and took some pictures. We were then off to Cottonwood for lunch at the Red Rooster Café. I had a chicken, cranberry walnut wrap and Al had a Cuban sandwich. The food was ok, but a bit pricey. We arrived at Rancho Sedona RV Park around 2 pm. The weather is getting cooler, 65 degrees, but still sunny. We paid for 2 nights and then took a...

Apr 14, 2015 - Forest Service rd 525

It was time to leave NM and head into Az.We traveled through Christopher creek near payson and on to Sedona. We found fs rd 525 west of Sedona and camped there for 2 nights. Biked the road for 6.8 miles and saw very few people. Pink jeep tours came by with their tourists who seemed incredulous that we were camped out in the middle of nowhere 8 miles from Sedona. We went back through sedona to hike some of the trails but found all parking lots overrun with tourists so we left yuppieville and moved on!

Mar 24, 2015 - Sedona

Sunday was a wonderful day. We experienced the best fellowship and worship so far at Tucson Calvary Chapel. We were able to join in with the praise because the songs were familiar and the message about Matt. 18 was very inspiring. You can listen to it on www.calvarytucson.com . Monday we made our way to Sedona, a very nice and new city in a valley between all the red rocks. Absolutely stunning to see but our experience was somewhat lessened by the fact that it was crowded everywhere we went. We drove the road to Flagstaff, AZ, a very steep...

Mar 17, 2015 - Pictures from Sedona, Arizona

We spent our day in the galleries of Sedona, Arizona, one of our favs. A couple of years ago, we put a bronze piece back in the gallery on consignment, but today we reclaimed it and it looks fabulous in our motorhome. Great to have it back home. The rest of the photos are of things that we enjoyed and will share them with you. The second photo is the view from our spot at the Elks Lodge. Pretty neat place with spectacular scenery. This is the high season for Sedona, so the shops are busy. Regardless, we love it here every time we return....

Is was a mining town-Copper,gold and silver. In it's prime there were 10,000 people but as the ore deposits became exhausted, the mines closed and population dropped to less then 100. Jan 10, 2015 - Sightseeing

After the comp breakfast we headed to Winslow Az. We spent a couple of hours there. Besides standing on the corner and "taking it easy" we walked the historical section of town. We also toured the La Posada hotel. One of the last Santa fe railway hotels still open and it is awesome. We then went to the Meteor crater that isn't that far from Winslow. We could take a self guided tour and then spent time in the museum and watched a film. We then headed to check out Sedona. Beautiful drive from flagstaff, major mountains and winding roads, it...

Dec 7, 2014 - Spectacular Sedona

Another beautiful drive north. I've taken so many pictures of this part of Arizona that they become redundant but I never get tired of the spectacular scenery - red rock country. After checking in I drove to the grocery store and picked up a few breakfast items. Don't plan on eating any other meals in the condo - I'm on vacation . ( aren't I always on vacation?) Watched Monday Night Football and relaxed this evening. Hope to hear from Jane and Jim tomorrow . They are meeting me here for a few days. Weather is supposed to be terrific until...
