Mar 11, 2006 - Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge

Yesterday we headed west to Arivaca to the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. The first stop was at the Arivaca Cienega trail just east of Arivaca. We enjoyed the walk through the very birdy area in spite of the cold temperatures and breeze. We found only one new bird for the trip, but saw a very unusual Mockingbird. It had only a couple of very short tail feathers. This bird looked like a whiffleball when it flew! What a hoot! We then headed to the Creek trail west of Arivaca.
