Jan 19, 2013 - Into Arizona

Spent one night in Willcox AZ, had a problem with our Jacks, they wouldn't go down. Got into Phoenix the next afternoon went to Camping World to get a couple things fixed, spent the night in their parking lot, they supplied us with electric. Made reservations at a Coast to Coast campground in Salome AZ, 35 miles from Quartzsite. Nice campground and the people are very nice. On Friday Jan. 18th we moved the RV to BLM land near Quartzsite to camp with club. You can't believe how many RVs are in this area, 3000 to 5000 possibly more. Sat....

Jan 6, 2012 - Desert Vista-Salome, AZ/Desert Gold-Brenda, AZ

Hi everyone...it's been a while since I updated on my Good Sam Journal. I was finally able to get on with my password. Had to e-mail Good Sam. Still don't know what the problem was, but it's fixed now and I can get on with my updates. We were in Salome, AZ at Desert Vista RV Resort for a week. The park was nice but as I think I told you from my e-mail message, we were out in the middle of nowhere. We found a few things to do and I have included some pictures. A week ago yesterday (Mon) we went to a town called Wickenburg. It was around 57...

May 25, 2011 - OTRA - AZ - Salome

5/25/11 We took Stanley to Oatman yesterday...stopping at the Needles Chamber of Commerce along the way to get some information for him to send back to New York. While we were there, I noticed there was a cache right on the spot so Stanley got to geocache. Also rode a burro in Oatman. Today we got a nice early start towards our next stop in Salome, AZ. Left at 8:45 a.m. to beat the heat. Pulled into the 3 Dreamer's RV Park at 11:20 after an easy, scenic drive along very lightly traveled Route 95. We'll be here for 2 nights before we head...

Jan 14, 2011 - Salome, AZ

We spent a week here preparing for our 2 weeks of dry camping in Quartzsite. That means we come in with empty black and gray water tanks and full water, propane, and diesel tanks, and fully charged batteries. We also cook and freeze as much food as we can plan ahead.

Alaska Again 2011

Dec 7, 2010 - Desert Vista, Salome, AZ

This is being updated after the fact (while in Sierra Vista) since the availability to the web is "iffy" at best while there at Salome. It was a very nice and short drive from Palm Desert to Salome, AZ. You'll find Salome in southwestern AZ on Hwy 60. Those that have been following our travels know we like this little park. It's not much to look at from the highway as one drives by, but the people make this a little gem in the desert. Our ten day stay here was wonderful as we had celebrated Dave's 59th birthday and a friends (Melissa...

Feb 19, 2010 - Salome, AZ

We arrived in Salome, AZ on Thursday. As we were driving down the road, we saw the sign "Salome where she danced", which brought back alot of old memories of being here before. We've had several people visit us while we stayed here, as well as all the local sightseeing we've done here with hikes etc. We haven't been here for two years and the park has made alot of improvements. There are many people here we met in previous years. Sometimes we recognize the faces and can't come up with the names - so I just ask! Jack went for a hike on...

Nov 1, 2009 - Desert Vista RV in Salome Arizona

It's always a nice easy drive from Las Vegas to Salome, AZ, about 250 miles straight down hwy 95 to Parker then over to Salome on hwy 72. We arrived about 3:00 in the afternoon, got setup and rested. This is the first "real" stop without any obligations AND with real nice weather. WE held back in Las Vegas for one day due to high winds there and all the way down hwy 95. We don't drive if the winds OR the gusts are over 40 mph. As we are writing this blog entry, it's 93 degrees outside with a slight breeze, see why we like it here? One of...

Oct 26, 2009 - We're in Arizona!

We're trying to update everything, so please be patient....I'm going to the pool! Okay, were back and relaxed. Today's travelling was light and enjoyable. We've stopped at the Desert Gold RV Resort which is located just west of Solome, Arizona. It offered a quiet place to gather our thoughts and update this site. We noticed today the weather is cooled off into the mid 80's and dropping tonight into the 50's. I believe this is an indication of weather in the high desert. Tomorrow we head further northeast where snow mat be possible. Will we...

Feb 28, 2009 - Salome, AZ

Today we drove from Surprise, AZ to Salome, AZ. It was only a 85 mile drive. We needed to stay at a RV park with full hookups so Susan could catch up on laundry and we could empty our tanks. Nothing here and we didn't go sightseeing as there is nothing here. No pictures here either. We promise to start taking pictures at our next place.

Jan 17, 2009 - Quartzsite Phase Two

This post is compilation of three days at Quartzsite. Today was the first day of the RV Show in the big tent, and it continues for about a week I think. Prior to that we'd visited Jim and Kathleen at the Escapees Elk's BOF location and spent some fun time with them. They are hosting the event. Great people and fun to be around! We also checked out motorhomes, solar systems, etc. Today we left earlier than usual because it was the first day of the RV Show and we expected there to be large crowds and maybe some difficulty finding parking. It...

Jan 17, 2009 - Quartzsite, AZ...having too much fun

I know it has been a week...time flies when we're having fun! We arrived Monday, Jan. 12 in Salome, AZ about 2pm. The Desert Palms Golf & RV Resort was a pleasant surprise. Although it is all asphalt and rock it is CLEAN. The sites are full hook-up and twice the size we usually find at other parks. We can park the coach, have a cement patio and park the car next to the patio and they are all 74 feet deep!!! The park is about 35 miles east of Quartzsite. This is a little ways away but we are staying a month and won't being traveling back and...
