Dec 26, 2012 - Peoria AZ - Lake Pleasant - Roadrunner Campground

Spent the week of Christmas at Lake Pleasant about 60 miles from Buckeye. Really had fun Christmas eve going to Mass and then to dinner with Michaela, Melissa, Nik, Dallas & Savannah. Reminded us of the days when Mike, Melissa and Michaela were the children at the dinner table having either a Roy Rogers or a Shirley Temple. After dinner, Michaela snapped a picture of Santa and his reindeer flying by, so we all hurried home so Santa could make his stops in Buckeye. Had Christmas dinner at Melissa's. She's a great cook and belongs on Chopped....

Retired at Last!

Nov 13, 2011 - Laughlin, NV and Lake Pleasant, AZ

We spent last weekend (11/4 - 6) in Laughlin, NV. Laughlin is a small town on the Colorado River with several casinos. From Laughlin we took a couple motorcycle rides around the Nevada, California and Arizona Tri State area. Saturday we rode south into California then crossed into Parker, Arizona. We then went back north making a stop in Lake Havasu City for lunch at In and Out Burger...one of our favorite fast food restaurants on the west coast. From there we continued up to Bullhead City, AZ which is directly across the Colorado River...

Fall 11 to Spring 12

Oct 31, 2011 - Bo's Backroad Tours

What a grand day today was!!! We left the RV around 9, had breakfast with Mildred and Cornell at Denny's, then off for his tour. We first drove by a huge dairy operation. Of course, we had to get out and take pictures and take in a whiff of the familiar smell from home. Then the next site was the Indian graveyard. I guess all of the old garage sale trinkets end up on these tombs. The best and most exciting part of the tour was seeing the cattle be driven from one field to another and crossing the road. The only thing that could have made...

Oct 30, 2011 - Visit continued

We had a great visit with The Arizona Bodell Family today. Mildred fixed a delicious lunch today for all. We had roast pork and beef, potatoes, carrots, slaw, her famous meatballs, bread and jello. Home cooked food really tastes great now that we've been out for 2 weeks. Jeff, Rick and Robin's family came today and we were able to spend time getting to know them. Robin's daughters are in the 10th and 7th grades. I tried to convince Robin that Maddie getting her driver's license shortly will be a be good thing, not a bad thing. Nikki's...

Oct 30, 2011 - The Family Visit

Our entries will be more limited the next couple of days as we are very busy spending time with Butch's Uncle Cornell and his family. We went to their home Friday afternoon, started visiting with his aunt and uncle. Then, cousin, John came and later cousin, Susan. Lots of talking and laughing from all. Everyone tried to "catch up" on both sides of the family with the latest news. Mildred fixed a great dinner of fried chicken and all the fixins. We watched(when not talking) the final World Series game with them. On Saturday, Susan and John...

Sep 18, 2011 - Sunday with the Jacksons

The Jacksons attend the Dove in the Desert United Methodist Church. We went with them to the 9:30 am service. What a lovely southwestern-style church. There is a large stained glass window inside. Wish I had brought my camera! We were welcomed by several of the congregation and chatted with the preacher after service. Then we had brunch at Brothers Family Restaurant, a Sunday tradition for the Jackson family. Tommy and Kim have two sons, Tyler and Kyle, and a daughter, Tori. (Tyler attends the University of Arizona and Kyle and Tori are in...

Blessed To Travel

Jan 22, 2010 - Phoenix Area Flood and Golf

From Guadalupe Mountains we skirted El Paso, TX going from New Mexico to Texas and back in the space of an afternoon. Traffic was reasonable, and we made Las Cruces, NM in time for dinner. There we camped at the Hacienda RV Park, probably the nicest layout we have ever seen. The camping area was all blacktop, and each camping pad was fine gravel. The management rakes the pad after each camper leaves, so it always looks like you are on a new pad. The old town is called Mesilla, and the folks there had dressed up their historic square and...

Mar 13, 2008 - More Baseball!

Sunday found us driving across the 'Valley of the Sun' and setting up camp at Lake Pleasant. This is a county run park located just outside of Peoria, Arizona. We haven't spent much time on this side of the valley and are looking forward to doing a little exploring. On Tuesday, Ann's parents drove over from Palm Springs and we spent a couple of days at the Peoria Sports Complex. This stadium was built in 1993 in an effort to keep spring training in the greater Phoenix area. It is the 'home' of the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners....

Feb 18, 2008 - Peoria, AZ

We are spending a week or more at a motel near the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, AZ. It is comfy, but it is NOT home! We have been out driving around the area, visiting the "Mothership" which is what we call the University of Phoenix Stadium (see the photos -- doesn't it look like a spaceship?). They were changing out the turf while we were there. An interesting process, they donate the old sod to an area high school. Portions of the sod can be cut out and replaced due to wear, but they replace the whole field occasionally. This field...

Tim and Kathy 2008

Oct 1, 2007 - Mon. Oct 1rst.

I'm finally starting to get a grip on what day of the week it is. We're leaving Vegas this morning. We're headed to Peoria AZ, about 15 miles north of Sun City. I will cost us $15 a day instead of the normal $30 because of the discount club we belong to. Yesterday we went to see the Las Vegas Bike Fest. It was interesting, mostly venders and custom bike builders with their special bikes. There also a lot of gang members wearing their colors. After 5 days in Vegas I've lost a total of $43 and the tables a fact that I'm not very happy about...

THE GREAT SALT LAKE

Jun 6, 2007 - Cibola Vista, Peoria AZ.

Well, I guess it's about time to make another entry. We arrived in Peoria AZ on schedule. Pretty nice scenery along the way, all mountainous. Wow our resort is fabulous!!!!!! The only thing missing is a deed to the place. As seen in the pics, the suite is awesome. Lots of room to move around in. There are 2 decks. One from the kitchen and the other from the bedroom. Two bathrooms with showers. No tubs-just the jacuzzi. Michelle would love it. Across the road is a ranch. They have 6 horses to ride if desired. Oh yes--lest I forget, there is...
