Tuesday After packing up camp, we headed to the Grand Canyon. It actually took about an hour to get there. Once inside the park, we stopped at the first scenic overlook, Desert View, for my first look at the canyon. It's pretty awesome. Grandpa and I climbed the watchtower designed and built by Mary Cooley. From there, it was still 25 miles to the visitor center. Apr 23, 2011 - Arizona winter retrospect

We are on our way back to Washington after six months in Arizona. I am making a few observations on that six months before it slips away into the netherland of my memory and before we become immersed once again in daily life on the island. This two week road trip provides a nice transition where it feels like I am suspended in time between here and there somewhere in southern Utah. Apr 25, 2008 - Day 13 Navajo National Monument 25/4/08

Day 13 Friday 25th April, Navajo National Monument (pg 8 B10) -10c Yep that was the low over night outside temp we experienced, inside was a low of 0c at Grand Canyon, thank goodness once again for the good heater. We forgot to disconnect the water hose – yeah that’s right, it froze. We were able to use the water in onboard tank for our requirements.
