Apr 14, 2012 - Sedona

4/13/12: Evening: After an AWESOME WARM shower WOW did that feel good. Had a great dinner at a local Italian place. Stuffed eggplant and shared a bottle of wine with Alice! 4/14/12: After a good nights sleep in a real bed, awoke to SNOW! Not expecting that. Had brought clothes for warm weather. Explored the town a couple hours then decided to spend the afternoon getting spa'd. Four hours of massage, manicure and pedicure. Met the group back at the hotel for dinner at Renee's a great French restaurant and another bottle of wine share with...

Apr 12, 2012 - Mooney and Beaver Falls

4/12/12: Today we started our hike to Mooney Falls by trekking through the campground about 1/2mile to the top of the falls. A beautiful view from the top then a steep descent to the bottom to stand near the pool and see the beautiful view of the full cascade of water. After the falls we hike along and across the Havasu Creek for a few miles to a lovely picnic spot. Prior to lunch took a quick dip in the still freezing water. After lunch several in the group head back to the campsite with Guide Ann while Marion, Lisa (guides)Pat, Amy,...

Today we cross the creek at Havasu Falls to trek into Carbonate Canyon. It is a quick in and out with a stop at an old mine. Lots of boulder scrambling (my favorite!). A fun hike with a very windy picnic at the falls after. later that day I walked back to the falls by myself and took a...

Apr 10, 2012 - Havasu Canyon - Hike In

On Tuesday 4/10/12 the hike into Havasu Canyon begins. The first view across the rim is breathtaking and the attached picture just cannot do it justice. I remember thinking that I couldn't wait to be at the bottom and able to look up at where i was now standing! On the trip down we would encounter several mule trains. All supplies to the village are brought in by either mule or helicopter. After the first mile and a half the steep switchbacks level out to a canyon wash hike. Around noon we stopped for lunch on a large outcropping (a place...
