Aug 25, 2007 - Visiting Grand Canyon

We took a day trip to grand canyon, in the Malibu. It was a pretty long day, but enjoyable. It was a circular trip from Flagstaff up rt.180 and 64 to the south rim village. We looked at the view, got a couple pictures, and went to the Yavapai lodge to get some lunch. The food was excellent..Of course the concessionare is Fred Harvey, and they have been doing food since 1906. We toured the gift shop and general store and then took off for a tour of the east rim on rt.64. We stopped at the first overlook and that was the last one we could get...

Jun 16, 2007 - Grand Canyon

We had a change of plan today. It did not make me too happy. But Gramma and Papa decided we would go to the north rim of the Grand Cayon since we were so close. It was big and deep. We had lunch at the lodge which overlooked the canyon. It was very pretty. You walk along the edge by the lodge and look at the differet views. There were a few paths out farther but we didn't take them as it was hot and the climb back up would be hard. We drove to Page, Utah which is where we are today. This is the first day we have had TV. We have been...

Jun 15, 2007 - Grand Canyon; and how I was kidnapped by 3 ladies, in a van, in Arizona

Well, its the Grand Canyon. What's more to say. Just check out the photos, they pretty much speak for themself. Amazing. We stay at a campsite for a couple of nights. Its run by a cool old cowboy guy called Bob. He offers to let us stay a free night ("You can stay an extra night on me. I don't care"). We enjoy a bit of drama. Elisa loses her purse, cards & passport at a Star Party full of astronomers in the park. She eventually gets it back, intact, a week or two later. After Paul leaves to head back to LA for his flight home, the girls...

May 23, 2007 - Grand Canyon, Arizona (USA)

May 23, 2007 From vegas we took a day trip out to the Grand Canyon by bus to the west rim which is owned by an indian tribe, so basically state law doesnt really apply out there. On the way out to the canyon we stopped off for a photo opportunity at the Hoover Dam, but there was alot of constuction going on around there so getting a good photo without a machine in it was pretty hard. Back on the bus for a couple more hours we arrived at the Grand Canyon, the particular tour that we were doing called the Wild Wild West allowed us to visit 3...

Aug 24, 2005 - Grand Canyon

Our next stop was the grand canyon. We had another tire blow out just before we got to Williams. Sure are glad we got a spare, but from the angle of the roadway, we didn't want to risk it so we used our Good Sam Emergency Services. What a blessing. The truck arrived in under one hour, changed the tire, and sent us on our way. We will replace ALL the older tires in Williams. We decided to take the train to the canyon so we could all relax and have a good time. We left the "boys" in Wheel Estate with the air conditioner going (it was already...

Jun 20, 2001 - Wed - Grand Canyon, AZ

(We don't crank the van for the second straight day!) 05:09 AM Everyone is up and we head outside trying to get some sunrise shots. We get a bunch as the sun comes over the canyon rim. It is worth getting up early to see! However, it is cool and windy (about 45 degrees) and Jo Ann is in shorts and a T-Shirt! The mule deer are nibbling on the grass again today. Betty is feeling better and we are thinking about going to the El Tovar Hotel for breakfast. 07:00 AM We decide, instead, to take the shuttle bus over to the village. We have...

Jun 19, 2001 - Tue - Grand Canyon, AZ

(We don't even crank the van today so we can keep our parking place!) 05:00 AM Jerry gets up early to go out and make some sunrise pictures. As he is leaving the room, there are two large mule deer right outside the lodge nibbling on the grass. They give a casual look and keep eating. It is a beautiful sunrise and the pictures are great. 07:00 AM The girls are finally up and everyone is showered and dressed so we go to the Bright Angel Restaurant for some breakfast. The meal is good but it is a bit costly for what we get. 08:00 AM After...
