Jan 31, 2013 - Eloy, Az
Our idea for staying in Eloy, besides the fact that we like this park, was to watch skydiving, but to visit the Tucson area without staying in the congestion of the city. We were on the go many days to visit sites in and around Tucson. One day took us to Biosphere II. This was a facility opened to the public in 1990. This engineering marvel was created to better understand how natural environments create habitable conditions for human sustainability. It is a unique facility that can be used to understand the role of life on Earth (Biosphere...

Jan 29, 2013 - Journey to Arizona
Our journey began at 9AM 12/29/2012 when we departed Salem, Or with our first overnight at Rogue River, Or. Our friends, Dean and Jodi Madison graciously researched our travel itinerary from Salem by selecting a primary and secondary route, which we would have been a detour to the Oregon coast in the event of snow in the Siskiyous. Fortunately the weather cooperated and we had clear highways through the pass.

Jan 27, 2013 - Eloy, Az
On Sunday morning, after getting the rigs washed we traveled to Phoenix where we parted with the Anderson's for the day. They needed to go to Apache Junction and get their rig worked on and we were headed for Eloy, AZ to Desert Valley RV Park. This is a park that we stayed in last year both coming and going to Texas and really enjoyed. This is near Sky Dive Arizona and so you can watch skydivers all day long. A couple of really great things happened for us on our way here. We have some friends we made in our Heartland Washington RV Chapter...

Mar 31, 2012 - Eloy, Az
Once again we traveled to Eloy, AZ and stayed at Desert Valley RV Resort. On our trip east we stayed here and received such a nice thank you from this park that we decided to come back and spend another few days. This park is near Sky Dive Arizona, one of the biggest sky diving areas of the world. While we were there, they were trying to break the world record for number of sky divers in formation at one time. The record is 230 and they were attempting 240 sky divers and 10 sky diving photographers. It was fascinating watching the staging...

Feb 2, 2012 - Eloy, Az
It was a long day yesterday or so it seemed. We changed time zones and we were on two lane roads for the first part of the trip. It was a great drive through the Lake Havasu area. We took AZ 95 which is for the most part a good road. The scenery is fantastic with interesting rock formations and arid plant life. Pulling the trailer made it hard to stop for pictures. We plan to come back to this area and spend sometime. There are several good state parks, but lots of RV's so getting a spot maybe hard. We did travel through Quartzsite where we...

Mar 20, 2010 - Western Way Rv Park, Tucson, Az
Another beautiful RV Park, a little out of town but handy to all amenities and excellent site-seeing locations. We only had a quick hour and a half drive from Eloy so we were able to arrive nice and early and enjoy a full afternoon at the pool just to relax. The grounds are very nice and mixed with a number of full time rv homes (park models) fixed really nice. If we were ever to decide to have a winter home, this is the park we would choose. After an afternoon of swimming and sun bathing, we had another fabulous meal and made plans to...

Mar 20, 2010 - Old Tucson Studios And Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
O.M.G. Without a doubt, the most spectacular day of our trip so far. We started out late in the morning for a trip out to the desert on the way to the Old Tucson Movie Studios. We arrived at the Old Tucson Movie Studios situated about 3 miles into the Desert Mountain area. Several old movies were filmed there, i.e. most all of Clint Eastwoods western movies, Tombstone, along with a number of well known TV shows such as High Chaparral and Little House on the Prairie. It was great to see where the shows were actually filmed and the scenery...

Mar 19, 2010 - A Balloon Ride for our Friends
On Thursday 3/18 we drove out to Eloy to watch our friends (Ken, Bev,Keith & Connie) take off on a much anticipated balloon ride. They had gift certificates through High But Dry Balloons. They had tried on a few occasionsions to go up, but the wind would kick up & the flight would be canceled. It was fascinating to watch the balloon being prepared for flight. You don't realize how big the balloons are until you stand next to one (WOW) made be feel like a dwarf (no comments from my kids please...lol). Anyways, on this particular flight their...

Mar 17, 2010 - Here we are in Eloy, Arizona
Well, here we are in Eloy, Arizona...(Desert Valley RV) a few short miles from the Factory Outlets in Casa Grande, AZ. The drive over from El Centro, CA was very interesting, especially after having a 2 hr. delay due to a flat tire on the 5th Wheel Trailer (while still in the RV Park). Thankfully we had BCAA and I can't say enough good things about their service. EXCELLENT...We drove directly through the desert with miles upon miles of Desert Cactus and very little signs of life. A few farm homes along the way after Yuma, AZ (where we...

Mar 14, 2010 - First "Off Road" Drive!
We bought a book at Camping World called Free Campgrounds. It lists free or up to $12 dollar campgrounds in the western part of the country. Just flipping though most of the directions...... take route so and so .....turn onto dirt rd (may have name?) ...go 3.5 miles turn onto another dirt road...go 4 miles ...then it gives a description of how many sites (if they are defined or not), if there is drinking water, toilets etc. To us city folks, it sounded kinda out of our range in a big 38 footer....but, we decided to give one a try on our...

Feb 11, 2010 - Parachuting in Picacho Peak
Before our plans changed, we were investigating places to stay between New Mexico and and Phoenix when we received an e-mail from Betty and Barry, a couple we met last year when we stayed at St. David near Benson, AZ. Betty saw from our journal itinerary, that we would be passing through near where they were staying and suggested we stop by for a visit. Cool! We could do that! On Thursday, February 11, we arrived at Picacho Peak RV Park located half-way between Tucson and Casa Grande, AZ, right on I-10 at the base of its namesake, Picacho...

Jan 31, 2010 - Eloy Skydiving
Last time we were here we enjoyed going to the Eloy Airport and watching the skydivers, so with nothing else to do on a sunny day (while Mike & Connie were golfing), we headed off to Eloy. It didn't seem to be as busy as the time we were here before, but it was still exciting watching them floating down and landing. There were a bunch of tandem jumps and we could hear the person getting the ride squealing with glee (or fear?) as they landed. Then we walked over to the building with the wind tunnel "sky diving" experience. It was being...
