Jan 2, 2019 - El Mirage, AZ

We quickly slipped into our old routines in Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort. Janet is doing a lot of exercise classes, sewing, and line dancing. I did my exercise routine every day. We renewed old friendships. January was a pleasant month, sunny and relatively warm. February, on the other hand, was cold and wet. The old timers are saying that this was the wettest and coldest month they can remember. According to the weatherman, the coldest and wettest in 40 years. Lots of cold, cloudy, windy, and wet days. Only a few cool but sunny days. March...

Oct 8, 2018 - 5 Day Recap

I arrived in Arizona last Thursday afternoon. For the first time in 8 years the motorhome did NOT start right up. Terry came with his Jeep and gave me a jump. Even though the coach is in covered storage, the rig was filthy from the many dust storms that occurred here this summer. Terry drove the motorhome to the back of the storage lot where there is a wash facility and we gave it a cursory hosing down. Exel wash will come in a few weeks to give the outside a good cleaning , shampoo the carpet, and steam clean the fabric on the bench seats...

Jan 1, 2018 - El Mirage, AZ

On New Year's Day we drove the last 200 miles to get to Pueblo El Mirage RV Park, our final destination for the winter. The weather was 70 and sunny, and some our friends were already there. It was nice to meet up with people we knew. PEM is just like we remembered it. It didn't take long to get into the rhythm of life in the park. We especially wanted to get back into the daily exercise routine since we haven't been able to do much since we left home. Janet is jumping right into the daily sewing routine. She says she is giving up on the...

Sep 25, 2017 - Last Stop

Drove straight to the storage unit to check out my coach. It started right up! Tomorrow Terry and Josie will help me drive it to my site in the RV resort. Went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner tonight. We all had margaritas and shrimp tacos. Yummy! Plan to get a good night's sleep so I am ready for the setup in the morning. Good to be back.

Jan 10, 2016 - Big Welcome back

So nice to see the girls at mahj today. They were sweet enough to give me a big reception . Everyone is gearing up for our tournament on Friday and since I am in charge of lunch I better get working on that tomorrow. The car is emptied out, the suitcases are put away, and things are back to usual.

Jan 3, 2016 - El Mirage, Arizona

We have made it to Arizona! Desert! Valley of the Sun! Saguaro cactus! Unlimited sunshine... Well, almost. It was 71 degrees and overcast when we got here, and we are supposed to have a whole week of overcast and intermittent light rain. Since we left on December 12 and had the post office forward our mail, we had a pile of Christmas cards waiting for us! Along with three weeks worth of bills. It was fun to open the cards, the bills not so much. Janet loves the sewing room here at Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort. She has a key to the sewing...

Oct 5, 2015 - From Pines to Palms

The 3 hour drive from Show Low to El Mirage is a beautiful one. The green pine trees and delightful cool temperatures slowly turned to brownish desert, palm trees, and 87 degrees. It took twenty minutes to set up the coach . It will take three days to clean it and put everything away. I've got that routine down pat. I didn't have internet connection yesterday so there was no journal entry. Today, after doing laundry and shopping, I got the front of the coach completely squared away. That's a good start! Today and tomorrow wil be in the low...

Feb 5, 2015 - El Mirage, AZ

We have finally arrived. We are looking forward to being in one place for a while. Since we left a few days early to avoid a storm, we have minimal groceries with us and we even have lists of things we need and things to do on the camper. It will take us a few days to catch up on all of it. But at least we don't have 6 hours of driving to do! We finally got off I-10. I think we did over 1,300 miles on this one route alone over the past 4 days. While we are here we will take day trips around Arizona, take advantage of the good weather, and...

Dec 12, 2014 - Back In The RV

Arrived at the RV in the early afternoon and found everything in tip-top shape. The drive south was pleasant and I am glad that I made the decision to leave before the wind and rain hit Sedona. The storm isn't expected to arrive here until the early morning hours. After unloading the car I went to the grocer. Then I had the unenviable chore of putting everything away - groceries, clothes, and all the stuff I dragged up and back - didn't need half of it!

Nov 13, 2014 - Recovering

Recovering - not from the whirlwind Thanksgiving celebration - but from the two hour swing in time. Rested this morning and played mahj with 5 other gals this afternoon. Met my new neighbors from Salt Lake City - nice young couple who are new at the RV resort lifestyle. I gave them a few pointers before coming in for dinner. Can't say I am sorry about being in 75 degree weather. Spencer called this morning and said that he woke up to find snow on the ground this morning. I got out of town just in time.

Oct 2, 2014 - Back Home

Got up at 5:30, was on the road by 6:00, and arrived at the storage by 9:20. The driver was already there so we moved one mile down the road and I was set up by 10:00. Everything went smoothly - unlike last year. It is still in the 90's but the AC works beautifully and the inside of the coach was comfortable within a half an hour. I had enough energy to get myself half organized. Will finish tomorrow. I am three hours earlier than Eastern Time because Arizona does not participate in DST. After the time change I will only be 2 hours...

Dec 29, 2013 - Moving Day

Had some minor glitches with the move both leaving CV and arriving at Pueblo El Mirage. Fortunately, Jim is a problem solver and all is well. I unloaded my car, jumped in the shower, and went out for lunch and a glass of wine. We all needed to chill after two days of travel - me from Detroit - Jane and Jim moved their rig here yesterday. Normally I would watch football with these lovely friends but we were exhausted. I came home and took a nap and I am sure they did the same. I'll get more settled in tomorrow - right now I am looking...
