Jan 11, 2013 - Ehrenberg, AZ

We spent 3 days in Ehrenberg, AZ as it is only like 30 miles from where we are going to camp in Quartzsite. The weather was sunny but very cold. It got down to 28 last night and our water froze. Susan visited with a couple with a HitchHiker. They are Don and Pat Bunker and they are going to the Hill Country rally in April and also to the HitchHiker factory. So we are going to see them twice more in April. We had a nice chat with them in our trailer. It turns out they have a HitchHiker Discover America Model 355. Their trailer is similar to...

Mar 18, 2012 - River Breeze RV Resort

Nice RV Park on the Colorado River. Did not want to unhitch the trailer so walked to a little market to get some milk and ate at a little restaurant next door. It looked like a dive but was real down home and people were happy to see some customers. I am sure is is very busy in the summer.

Land's RV Trip

Nov 19, 2011 - On the road again..soon

After accomplishing everything we wanted to do we are heading back on the road. Yesterday was a putz around day for me, however Shirley never putzes she was hard at finishing her projects. We did take time out to visit the Ghost Town remains of Ehrenberg AZ. All that is left is a grave from the early 1800's. It looks just like the graves in cowboy movies. We also had a treat for lunch at the Flying J Wendy's. Heading north a bit to see the London Bridge. Enjoy the pics.

Nov 18, 2011 - Just about done

We are just about done with domestic chores. Shirley has put her sewing machine away the house is back in shape from various projects. Just a couple left. I did a spring? (fall) cleaning of the camper and it looks and smells great. We took a bike ride for 4 miles yesterday. The terrain is flat which is good. Another beautiful day in the mid 70s and people started coming in for the weekend yesterday. Look to be back on the road by the next blog. Enjoy the pics.

Nov 17, 2011 - This is camping ???

By the looks of things we have virtually moved into the River House. We are sleeping in the camper in the driveway but I am doing the blog while Shirley is sewing. We eat here, shower here, relax here. The big event of the day was a walk in the desert along the Colorado River. And I found that my nephews and nieces have the MLB network on the TV. I also detailed and cleaned the inside of the big honkin dually and detailed the camper. They look mighty spiffy not at all like we have been on the road for over 8 months. When we do leave I hope...

Nov 16, 2011 - Relaxin'

We are at the river house and taking it easy. It is a real treat to get time to do regular stuff that most people do when they are home. This house is fantastic. I am sure it can sleep 15 or 16 people. There are even beds in the closets! We went to Blythe CA for groceries and stuff, I washed the truck and camper while Shirley did some mending (with her sewing machine). A bike ride was on Shirley's agenda as well. Grilled out gazing at the mountains behind the desert. More free camping courtesy of nephews Jim and Tom and their gorgeous wives...

Nov 15, 2011 - Desert has one s

We are in the desert as we left Yuma AZ and travelled to Ehrinberg AZ. Before we left however, we took a nice tour of historic Yuma and a great bike ride along the Colorado River. We went to the visitors center in Yuma and found it had a number of refurbished original buildings dating back to the 1800's when Arizona was a territory. The buildings were the Quartermaster Headquarters and depot for the territory. It was very nice. Then the bike trails were great. Paved and flat, temps in the low 70's and sunny of course. Stopped for diesel,...

May 23, 2011 - Colorado River Resort

We arrived here this being our first long drive since before Rob's hospital stay. We started out sight seeing in the desert to see some old Indian sites. While walking about a mile into where we thought they were Elizabeth fell and sprained her left foot Rob had to go back and get the car so she would not have to walk all the way back. Then it was off to the ER for x rays. We extended our stay for a few days so we could use the hot tub and pool for recovering.

May 12, 2011 - Enjoying Life At The Colorado Oasis

This morning Lena and I were up & about having breakfast before the sun rose. We usually awakened early on the days we move to a new site. Each time we get the RV ready for travel we seem to knock off several minutes in the time it takes us to get going. It was also a pleasure to have everything work properly for a change. We were all ready to leave California at 830. The travel to Arizona was relatively easy.. There was very little traffic on the I-10. We were only traveling a distance of 110 miles. 70 miles of this trip is nothing but...

Mar 25, 2011 - Ehrenberg, Arizona

3/12/ to 3/25/11 Here we are in another favorite park located in Ehrenberg, AZ along the Colorado River. With a population of about 1300 people it’s even smaller than Honeoye, NY, our home town. Why we like it here is hard to understand if you are not one for being in the boonies. This is the desert and the closest town is across the river in Blythe, California. It has one large grocery store and an old K- Mart plus a few restaurants that one would not brag about. It amazes us to see crops growing here in the desert. The irrigation is...

Feb 27, 2011 - Ehrenberg, AZ

We left Desert Hot Springs and headed east to just across the Colorado River from Blyth, CA to a SMALL town of Ehrenberg, AZ. We had reservations here for two weeks as we wanted to check out Quartzsite, AZ which is less than twenty miles east. Quartzsite is a town with the population of 3,497 and hosts 1.5 million additional people annually, mostly Snowbirds in the months of Jan. and Feb. We have been in the area before, but never at the height of the season, and we wanted to experience the happening. People just pull off the road and park...

Crossing the Country

Nov 21, 2010 - Quick overnight at Ehrenberg, AZ

Vegas to Ehrenbert, AZ Well, we got Ryan to the airport okay. Was a rather early morning, as we didn't know what to expect with traffic, distance to airport, etc. I opted to take a taxi, rather than drive, again due to my fears of getting lost, etc. Cost a few extra bucks, but was worth it. And this was my first day alone on the trip. For what it's worth, for those of you who are concerned about me, both my being delayed by a month, as well as Ryan being with me for the first leg, has helped immensely with my being able to cope with my...
