Mar 21, 2019 - Ehrenburg, AZ

Heading west on I-10 we stopped at Arizona Oasis on the Colorado River in Ehrenburg, AZ. Difficult site to get into and quite a drop down to get into the park. More difficult climbing back up and out. This is not a park we would come back to. Ehrenberg (Ehrenburg) was named for a German mining engineer who was hired to survey the townsite in the 1860s. Originally named Mineral City it attracted miners and businessmen. Many residents and businesses relocated here from La Paz, AZ. Once the railroad bypassed the town at the turn of the 20th...

Oct 22, 2018 - Ehrenberg and Beyond

October 21, 2018 Driving across Phoenix turned out to be no big deal, thanks to those big girl panties. I spent two nights in Sun City West at my ex-husband's house. We had not seen each other for nearly four years, and it is amazing how he looks so much older and I don't, ha! It was a very nice visit, and now for the rest of the story......oh wait, that is a whole different blog. When I got to Lake Havasu City to camp at my friend Dawn's house, one of my “nomies”, Susan, had already arrived. We did some sightseeing and shopping, both the...

Sep 6, 2018 - Almost Made It !!!

Yesterday we almost made it to California. We drove 5 hours and put 240 miles behind us and if we would have drove another minute or two we would have been in California. We decided to stay at River Breeze RV Resort on the east side of the Colorado River and we're so close because the west side of the river is California. We have another 110 miles to drive today and could have made it yesterday but 240 miles is about the max for us anymore. - We were here at River Breeze back in 2006 when we first hit the road. We paid for a month over...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Apr 27, 2018 - Ehrenberg on the Colorado River

I had to walk Daisy across street this morning to find some weeds for her to piddle on because they have so many strict rules about where to walk dogs in this Resort. Their fancy Resort has a rocky dog park way in the back and you don’t dare let your dog pee on the ground anywhere before reaching that “dog park”. Today we drove Interstate 10 west to Interstate 8 (which comes out of San Diego), then north on AZ Highway 85, going around Phoenix up to meet Interstate 10 again, and on to Ehrenberg where we stopped for lunch and fuel. On our...

Feb 23, 2017 - Magic Buttons

February 23, 2017 Magic Buttons The past two days I have been driving days without a lot of sightseeing along the way. But, three Magic Buttons have made my trip much easier and more entertaining. The first Magic Button is attached to a gizmo that turns my old 2006 stereo into a state-of-the-art Bluetooth entertainment system. I simply plug it into the auxiliary plug, find an unused radio frequency (AM) on my stereo and turn the magic dial to the same frequency. Then I turn on Bluetooth on my iPhone or iPad and voila! My music magically...

Sep 25, 2016 - Colorado River

Today we will stop at Ehrenberg, AZ on the Colorado river border with Califoania. As we headed south on Highway 17 from the Sedona area we saw the cutoff to Prescott, where we have visited in the past. Then we ran into the crazy traffic of the Metro Phoenix area and scooted around the outskirts to avoid the main part of town. It was lovely to see such greenery in the desert along the way, they must have had enough rain this summer to keep it green. We connected with Interstate 10 and passed through Quartzsite and over the mountains just...

Jan 9, 2016 - Ehrenberg, AZ

On the way to Ehrenberg, AZ we stopped at the dog show in Indio, CA so we could visit with Claudia Lane and Vicki. They are friends from when we were showing dogs. Fter the show we continued on to Ehrenberg. After stopping for lunch, we found outselves with a flat tire on the car. I changed the tire to the little donut they call a spare. I found the the tire did not have a puncture, but the rim was bent so that all the air leaked out. Took the car to a tire shop. The tire guy said I needed a new rim. I asked him to try to pound the rim...

Travel 2016

Feb 18, 2015 - West to Ehrenberg, AZ

We left for Ehrenberg today, to stay at the Colorado River. We traveled along a scenic byway, 79 to Florence, then on thru Casa Grande. The desert was lush and green with so many plants that I actually recognized. There were lots of Cholla cactus, and Palo Verde trees. Don’t forget the tall Saguaro cacti. As we neared Florence the desert gave way to farming. Several years ago we visited the “Great House” in Casa Grande, and today we could see it from our highway. Read more about the Great House here. We finally connected with Interstate...

Apr 19, 2014 - Ehrenberg,AZ

Anza Borrego was much too hot especially without air conditioning. We cut our stay short and added a couple days stay at Ehrenberg, AZ. The park is very nicely situated on the Colorado River. Our site gives us a nice view of the river and easy access to the water. Mike & Julie are dry camping on the river about 6 miles from us. Mike & Mark have been out fishing in Mike's blow up boat and caught lots of yummy Sunfish; which we BBQ'd on the grill. Yesterday they caught 16 fish. They are all cleaned and in the freezer. I drop off Mark and pick...

Apr 16, 2014 - Ehrenberg, AZ 2014

Ehrenberg, AZ April 10 thru April 16, 2014 Colorado River Oasis RV Resort in Ehrenberg is located on the Arizona side of the Colorado River at I-10 Exit #1 and Blythe, CA is on the west side of the river. Ehrenberg is a small agriculturally oriented town of about 1700 residents. Blythe a railroad town is much larger with a population of about 21,000. Both of the towns are in the Sonoran Desert and are highly dependent on the Colorado River. As members of Western Horizon Resort (WHR) we have stayed at this resort many times in the past. This...

Mar 29, 2014 - East to Ehrenberg

We said our good-byes to our Alfa friends, hooked up the Jeep, and hit the road eastward bound. Contrary to our trip west, all the rest areas were open and we took advantage of a couple of them; paw stretches for Foxy and a break from the horrendously rough freeway for Joe and me. We reached Ehrenberg in time for lunch and I did a little clean up on the coach. Two weeks in the shop took its toll on the housekeeping and we could write our names on every surface. Should get to Casa Grande tomorrow.

Mar 14, 2014 - Ehrenberg

We said our good-byes to Mac & MaryLou and hit the superslab westward bound to Ehrenberg. It was very windy and all in all a pretty uneventful drive, with a couple of stops for Foxy to have a paw stretch and some lunch for us. We've booked two nights at Colorado River Oasis and hope the wind dies down by Sunday when we have to hit the road again. We didn't even disconnect the car; looking forward to just doing nothing.
