Feb 11, 2012 - Dateland, Arizona

There were no exits for the next 12 miles because we had somehow turned onto I-8 instead of staying on the frontage road. The next off-ramp was the town of Dateland. We had planned to travel to Dateland in a few weeks to see some friends who moved from the park where we are currently located, so it turned out to be a 'Good Thing Anyway'. Dateland, as you might have guessed, grows dates! They have two RV Parks here, a large gas station, and Quizno's. Shopping is somewhat limited here, so the folks who stay at these two parks will drive about...

Sep 9, 2008 - Dateland, AZ

We finally left San Diego on the 9th, WooHoo! Made it to the CA/AZ line and we had to stay at this little rv park in Dateland. In the middle of the desert there is this big grove of dates and that is all there is. Except a gas station, a date shop and a campground. So we had to stay. After we parked and ate we went and sat outside and OMG! The earth was radiating so much heat it was like the sun never went down! I have never been anywhere it was that hot. Glad we were just passing through. Anyway, there was a line of thunderstorms moving...

Viva la Vita

Feb 29, 2008 - The Oasis at Dateland, AZ

We arrived in Dateland, AZ to what we consider "scorching" temperatures -- somewhere in the 80's. We have discovered that our optimal comfort zone is really pretty limited, and probably lower than we originally thought. Maybe about 60-75 degrees is our favorite zone. Home is an RV Park that we had been to about 5 years ago. It is a bit east of Dateland and, of all things, is next to the railroad tracks! Can't seem to get away from the train. Glad we got used to that in Williams. We seem to be able to sleep through most of the horn...
