Oct 22, 2015 - Cordes Junction

We were glad to leave the messy campground in Monument Valley and head south. We put a little diesel in our tank but their price was sky high so we'll wait for a more reasonable fuel stop along the way. At least it was dry, even if a bit windy. We had an uneventful drive through Flagstaff and arrived at Cordes Junction and Quail Ridge RV Park. We've stayed here before and it's an easy drive on to Tucson from here. We have no major plans since we've done all the touristy things in the vicinity and we need some decompression time.

Nov 5, 2014 - Movin' on South - Cordes Junction

We reluctantly left our quiet, peaceful campground in Wahweap to head on further south about 200 miles. Our initial plan was to spend some time in Sedona; but, alas, the campground didn't have availability for the number of nights we wanted. So, we went to plan B and selected Quail Ridge in Cordes Junction. As it turned out, this was a great alternative. We left Wahweap relatively early since we hadn't driven 200 miles in a while and we knew coming out of Page, we'd have to take an alternate route since the regular route 89 is closed due to...

Oct 10, 2013 - ATV Trip Cordes Junction 10/07/2013

Mon 10/7 Arrived Cortes Junction, only one wrong turn not bad for us. Greeted by very pleasant lady with enormous breasts and no bra. Turned out to be very hard worker, very nice. Tried the bar, shared a laugh with Patrick a truck driver heading through to LA good luck with that Patrick. The towels took scratchy to another level. Tues 10/8 Bloody basin road Good ride, glorious sunny day, moving from high desert to desert. Arrived at Sheep bridge, looks awefully sophisticated for a sheep crossing but apparently that is what it is...

Sep 15, 2012 - back to air conditioning

Saturday, September 15, 2012 Sorry, no pictures today. We left the campground at 8:16 this morning (Arizona time). Arizona doesn't do the daylight savings thing, so it's an hour earlier than other mountain time zone states (how confusing!). Our plan for today was to go to the Phoenix area where Chuck could visit his dad before driving to Benson, AZ to meet up with the others. In our travels today, we saw more spectacular scenery. Before we even started driving, we filled up on diesel at Shell. At $4.20 per gallon, we got $100.00 worth (23...

Utah 2012

Sep 14, 2012 - trip's adventure

Friday, September 14, 2012 We did have a venture today and we all survived! We all had a Mexican breakfast to start the day; too much food, no lunch necessary. We were on the road by 9:32 under a clear blue sky with no clouds. Scenery was lovely again today, seeing wildflowers of yellow, white, orange, and purple (There were also brown/black-eyed susans and sunflowers, as well as yellow-blooming shrubs.) Colors in the rock formations were many hues of beige, southwest red, gray, and dark brown. Sites we passed today included Johnson Canyon...

Apr 28, 2010 - Still at Cordes

Just staying around the campground today doing some basic house cleaning and updating the journal. The weather is kind of crazy. The wind is getting up again today. We are planning to leave here tomorrow to go to the Grand Canyon. We have reservations at the Grand Canyon Village. The weather is predicted to be 45 for the high, 20's at night. YIKES...... We may stay one night instead of two as we planned.

Apr 27, 2010 - Prescott Valley site seeing

Got a glimpse of local wildlife this morning, a small bunny. Still haven’t seen any of the bigger wild animals, even though there were warnings along the road. Checked out the local area. Drove to Prescott Valley, which was about 25 miles away. Peppy is having a great time with all this riding around. Along the way we came across a small town named Dewey-Humboldt, an old mining town. They have built a small strip shopping center with a historic look. We had to stop and take our pictures. We are camping next to a couple who have friends...

2010 Summer Trip

Apr 26, 2010 - Cordes Junction, AZ

We left Benson for an area between Phoenix and Flagstaff. Just a stopping point before the Grand Canyon. We will take one day to do some basic house cleaning. The scenery just north of Tucson changes a bit. There are large saguaro cacti in the fields, along with all the other cacti. When we got north of Phoenix the scenery was more mountainous. Very beautiful. About 5 miles from out stopping point, Cordes Junction, we encountered our steepest climb. We were behind someone towing a camper. Their speed dropped to 30 mph. We climbed and...
