May 4, 2006 Today we traveled to Ajo, AZ. After setting up the motor home, we unhitched the Tracker and headed to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. The National Monument is located near the Mexican Boarder in the Sonoran Desert. We have never been this far south in Arizona and found the landscape to be quite inhospitable. Mar 2, 2006 - Starting just north of the border

We had been in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, for a week. On the way back we stopped at the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument south of Ajo, Arizona. The monument was established to preserve the wilderness and to protect the Organ Pipe Cactus, which grows mostly in the monument but also can be found within 80 miles of the area and in Sonora, Mexico.
