Feb 11, 2019 - Cool Phoenix

February 11, 2019 Cool Phoenix Phoenix has never appealed to me, partly because I am not drawn to big cities, and the Phoenix metro area is huge. However, my sister Alison was attending a relocation business forum in Scottsdale. She owns a successful relocation business called Alison's Relocations in Anchorage, AK, and won a prestigious award at the forum. I am very proud of her! Since I wanted to see her, a change in attitude was needed. I decided to book an AirBnB in the Phoenix area and be a big city girl for a couple of days. I found a...

Jan 1, 2016 - Let's start the New Year in Cave Creek

Started the New Year by staying at Rancho Manana at Cave Creek. We were not familiar with this area and staying there for a week gave me and my husband time to explore. The first part of the week was great. We practiced hitting golf balls on the driving range; walked to the town of Cave Creek and went on a hike at the local state park with a ranger. Our villa was so luxurious we didn't mind staying indoors when the storms hit. Lucky for us we had brought a jigsaw puzzle with us and had time to finish it before we left. I can't wait to...

Jan 16, 2014 - Cave Creek

It was too beautiful a day to spend inside playing games so Jane, Jim and I took a ride to a small town north of here called Cave Creek. There are a couple of antique shops, lots of boutiques displaying the work of local artists ( the usual pottery , gourds, and cowboy paintings), and many restaurants. The place has some charm but it's a once and done kind of outing. I made over easy eggs for dinner and didn't break one! It's great to eat exactly what you are in the mood for and not care about what time of day it is when you're eating it.

Feb 5, 2011 - Lake Pleasant Regional Park

While the location says Cave Creek on our location, we are actually about 20 miles west of the town. We have heard this is where the artists (painters, bronze, glassworks and more) have begun to congregate, and there are some large studios throughout the area, so we'll be spending some time exploring this community later. Our move to this park was uneventful and we're both glad we made the change, this is more our style. There are no bad sites. As you can see from the photo, we see the lake and distant mountains all around us. The day was...

Apr 9, 2010 - Just enjoying the Mall

Just some photos of Desert Ridge Mall where we like to go to see movies for the $5 senior rate, enjoy great resturants, and just hang out in the sunshine and warmth. Beautiful today, 85* and sunny, no humidity. Picture of the Cave Creek kingdom hall and cactus blooming around the area while we were out in service. Still in Cave Creek. Hate to leave so beautiful here. Probably go to the Rodeo in Cave Creek this weekend. Will be alittle noisey in the campground. Oh well, that's what rodeos are like. Hello to everyone, and say Hi to anyone I...

The first photos are in Anza/Borreggo park. We did a number of hikes, saw some wildflowers and palm trees. Nice weather. Then we headed to the Salton Sea preserve. There were farm fields that Rick really enjoyed seeing. The Salton Sea preserve is a huge preserve for waterbirds and ducks. There were 4 different geo-thermal plants in the area. Green energy plants. Joshua Tree National Park was very interesting. Seeing the huge rocks and the erosion and how everything was formed. Amazing!!!! The joshua trees reminded me of Gumby. They were...
