Feb 14, 2013 - Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all! I hope you got lots of chocolate and a really neat card from your mate. I got a wonderful card from my hubby. It was probably the best card he every has given me, and he has given me some great cards. No chocolate, however. I even hinted, but I guess we will have to practice more on me saying what he needs to do, and him doing it. Been trying to train him for the last 12 years. Jack and Lois came down to visit us and we went to Micayo's for lunch. Love the margaritas, but lunch wasn't that great this time....

Feb 14, 2013 - Casa Grande, Arizona, and Boyce Thompson Arboretum

From Quartzsite we went to Casa Grande in order to meet with two couple friends with whom we have volunteered in the past. However, in the process we launched ourselves on an adventure inherent to the full-time RV lifestyle – namely, getting mail. We had ordered some medication for Jon from our provider in Washington thinking there was plenty of time to get it to Quartzsite before we left. That didn’t happen. So we left a forwarding order to send it on to Casa Grande. After a week there, it still hadn’t arrived and, of course, the Post...

Feb 13, 2013 - Bad Day at Casa Grande

We had a very frustrating day. It was one of those days that on reflection it would have been best to stay inside and cover our heads slide down into the bed. John got up early and took the truck in to have new shocks installed. When he got there they did not have him on the books. They finally figured out how they could squeeze him in. He went for a walk to calm down his frustration. Since he had not had breakfast yet he walked to a restaurant for breakfast. He had to ask for coffee refills, with the last request never honored. Don’t you...

Feb 12, 2013 - Tuesday

I drove to Surprise for the doctor appointment. Last time I was there my BP was 160/90 and this time it was 170/78. Not good. I will have to go on blood pressure medication. I was floored as I have always had a low reading. Now that I am getting older, I guess it is more prevalent as we age. Another thing, for goodness sake! I didn’t realize how wonderful it was to be young when I was young. Needless to say, I am not happy about this, so it is time to make some changes in my life. I have lots to see and do…no coddling this chick. We have a...

Feb 11, 2013 - Alex's Birthday is today

My youngest son, Alex celebrated his 37th birthday today. As all of you who have children know, it seems like only yesterday he was a little boy giggling and happily playing on the jungle gym at the park close to our house. Many, many fun times we had as he was growing up. Happy Birthday Alex, we love you! I had to go to the post office to mail a few postcards that I had sold on eBay. I have been selling off and on eBay since 2002 and have found vintage/antique postcards the easiest to sell and to send. I have had some years where I have...

Feb 10, 2013 - Another day of reflecting

It was cold today. But, I almost feel silly saying that, knowing that people who live on the East Coast (namely my son and his family, who lives in Rhode Island) are covered in snow. Thank goodness they haven’t lost power. Other than going to the grocery and picking up some much needed items…i.e. ice cream, sushi, dog treats, chocolate…etc., we stayed home and inside. I know I said I would walk ½ hour each day and I promise I will start tomorrow. Seriously, I will. A little more reflection on our life. I have seen so many things that I...

Feb 9, 2013 - Reflecting

After 15 months of living a nomad type of life I must say that we have not regretted one moment since the day we left Federal Way, Washington. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone and how much we put into those 15 months. We thought long and hard, researched and researched before we decided to take the plunge into the unknown. We had never really been campers although we are presently living in our 4th RV, but one week was the longest we had spent using our trailers prior to leaving for good. Were we worried, scared and nervous? You...

Feb 8, 2013 - My Mistake

Today was a day of recovering from a very stupid mistake I made last night. I am telling you this because I believe that everyone who takes prescription drugs must know how easy it can be to make a mistake. Last night I took my prescription drug as usual, but I picked up the wrong bottle and took 8 mg. of my meds. instead of 1 mg. I realized this when I discovered the correct bottle about 20 minutes later. An hour later I started to get a very bad headache and by the time I went to bed it was so bad that I don’t remember having a headache...

Feb 7, 2013 - New recliners

John took off this morning for his appointment for a physical with the VA. I stayed home (darn it) and played with the dog, had a nice lunch, did a little cleaning, took the dog for a walk, sat in the sunshine, talked to my son on the phone and watched T.V. It was tough being home alone without anyone saying they were hungry, but I was up to the task. Tomorrow morning he has to go in for some blood work. I think I will sleep in. Oh, the tough life of a trailer babe. That pretty much was my day. Had some time to reflect on the last 15 months...

Feb 6, 2013 - Day of chores

We woke up to the sound of the doves singing in the trees by our trailer. I love the songs they sing. In the afternoon they chase each other through the park, swooping around the trees and through the lanes of the RV’s. Noisy and fun to watch. Today was “get it done” day. We had a lot of things to check up on. Our first stop was the Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs. John signed up for health benefits with the VA. We found out that since he was on an aircraft carrier during Vietnam he qualified. Tomorrow he has his first appointment at the VA in...

Feb 5, 2013 - Truck fixed

We got the truck back and it was pretty close to the estimate, in fact $2 under. Total $798 for a 90,000 mile check up. I was expecting them to at least give it a bath, but you don’t get any extras for $798…maybe if we had spent $800. Hmmm, what happened to great customer service? John headed over to Fry’s where he picked up the two recliners we bought a few days ago. They look great in the trailer and I love having a recliner again. Whoopee doooo. This was the one thing we really missed was our recliners. It has been over a year and we...

Feb 4, 2013 - Super bowl

I just typed in my journal entry, hit the wrong button and it all went away. Dang it, I hate when that happens. ARGH!!! Super Bowl Day. Needless to say, John has two different emotions on this day every year. First it is a football day, but on the other hand, it is the last football day till mid-August. I like it cause I get my husband back on Saturdays and Sundays. Party time….up to Surprise to a group of 14 for a big Super Bowl party at Jack & Lois Fairchild’s. For those of you who worked at United Airlines as John & I did, we had the...
