Mar 26, 2010 - BULLHEAD CITY, AZ (Laughlin, NV)
After a very warm night boondocking in Quartzsite, we travelled on towards Bullhead City, AZ to visit with Emma Jean who we met on our Alaska Cruise in September. The drive was short but very dry and uninhabited desert. We stopped for gas in Needles, CA (you have to drive through California at that point to get to Bullhead). Had we known the major price difference in gas from California to Arizona, we would have waited til Bullhead City. Fuel price in Needles was $3.69 Gal. compared to 30 miles north in Bullhead City, Arizona's $2.52. Could...

Mar 24, 2010 - blah, blah, blah
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 We had a good time exploring around Cottonwood, AZ. We saw some ruins at Tuzigoot National Monument that were left from the Sinagua Indians. At least that is the name given by the folks who study this stuff. Now say the monument name several times: Too-zee-goot, Tuzigoot, Tuzigoot. Ain’t that a neat word? In Apache it means “crooked water.” There were Apache workers on the WPA crew that uncovered the ruins in 1933-34 and one of them suggested the name. The ruins are on a hill overlooking the Verde River and it...

Mar 16, 2010 - Peoria and Bullhead City, Arizona
We spent several days near Peoria, a suburb northwest of Phoenix. Our primary reason for stopping in this area was to attend a Seattle Mariners Cactus League Spring Training game at the Peoria Sports Complex. Our seats were in right field in the second row, with our backs to the sun on a perfect day for baseball. It was “Little League Day,” so before the game, a whole bunch of Little League players marched around the warning track. Selected kids got to take positions with Mariner players, including one lucky boy with Mariners star Ichiro...

Dec 16, 2009 - Bullhead City, AZ
After another day of driving, following all of the excitement in the morning, we arrived on the Arizona and Nevada border at Bullhead City on the Arizona side. The name Bullhead City came from the Bullhead Lake which was formed when they damed up the Colorado River bordering both states. Right across the river from Bullhead City is Laughlin, Nevada. A boom town built by casino's drawing citizens from both Arizona and California which is not far away. From the RV resort where we stay you can see the bright lights of the cansino's on the...

Dec 1, 2009 - Mohave Valley Adventures
We have had a wonderful first month in Arizona although there has been a lot of wind. Our campground was only 5 miles from a very nice casino. We didn’t play any of the games, but we did enjoy the theatres [on Wednesdays seniors can get two tickets, 2 popcorns, and 2 16oz. drinks for $15.50], and restaurants. The food was delicious and VERY inexpensive. Our first exploration was to Lake Havasu to see the real London Bridge that was moved to the states in the late 1960s. [it‘s reassembly wasn‘t completed until 1971.] We took a jet boat for...

We decided to get to Vegas by way of Bullhead City. Another full-timer said to go this way since if you go over Hoover Damn they stop you and go inside your rig and inspect everything. Glad we did went back to sight see and saw it would have been a nightmare if we had went that way. Ridgeview RV park was a great park we will stay here again if we need too. Drove to Oatman,Az which was old mining town. They have burros that run loose in town they are protected by federal govt just like the wild horses. Have great t-shirt store that has...

Hanging out here for 7 days to relax a little. Using C2C, so the cost is only $10 a day. My RV is so dirty from being in the desert since Jan., but I have 4 more weeks of desert camping before we head to the Pacific Ocean in San Clemente to visit my Dad and sister. After Memorial Day we travel north up Hwy 101. I'll just wait for a nice heavy rain in OR to het the dust off. HA!

Feb 11, 2009 - Bullhead City, AZ
We drove from Phoenix to Bullhead City today. We drove through some amazing scenery. The road was called, "Joshua Tree Pkwy." It had some amazing Joshua trees and a few saguaro, but these are getting more and more scarce as we drive north. We made it to Bullhead City around 5:00 and called Chuck McCombs (John McCombs' dad), who winters here. We bar-b-qued some delicious frozen sockeye salmon that we've been finding at various grocery stores. It was delicious! Almost as good as at home. It was great to see Chuck. He drove us over to his...

Stayed in Bullhead City at Moon River Park for a night on the way to Las Vegas. Area from Parker to Laughlin was nice along the Colorado River. Several parks located directly on the river. Nice place to come back and explore. Lots of casinos in the area around Laughlin. Drive across the edge of the Mojave Desert through Joshua Tree desert.

Our campsite overlooks the Colorado River and the city of Laughlin, Nevada, a beautiful sight. We are up on a hill, and it is very pretty. Coming from Hoover Dam, our first stop in Bullhead City was Davis Dam. It is closed to the public, and there are roadblocks from both directions, but Lake Mojave is a beautiful blue, and Katherine's Landing is quite a place, with a marina and campground and lots of picnic areas. We're taking it easy, but we took a few side trips. One was to Oatman, Arizona, where people live and work, and it used to be a...
