Feb 26, 2014 - Updated activity

Well it has been over a month since I last updated this journal so I have a lot to talk about. It is amazing how busy you get and don't how much time has passed. We managed to get through the super bowl without falling asleep. We were with Brandon, Amanda and the boys at their home. I have to say the game itself was quite boring, halftime was okay but the company was fantastic. We ended up playing some UNO with the boys and then some marbles and euchre with Brandon and Amanda. Then we got a real treat when Phil and Cindy came to visit. It...

Feb 21, 2014 - Bullhead City

Hi All We spent the last 4 days in Bullhead City, AZ. We were just across the Colorado River from Nevada - could put one foot in AZ and one in NV -- being in 2 places at the same time. Plus -- in 2 time zones at the same time. And speaking of time zones -- we have finally made it back to Pacific Standard time - no more confusing me when I want to make phone calls! Victor's high school buddy, Marty, spends winters in Bullhead so we had a chance to visit with him and his wife Mardi Ann. Victor's dad gave Marty (the son he always wanted!!...

Feb 20, 2014 - Back in Bullhead

We stopped in Bullhead City for a couple of days. Seemed so funny to be there without seeing my Aunt Kaki who was always the only reason we stopped there. We stayed at the Riverside Casino's RV Park, and while there took advantage of their casino (lost) and their movie theatre to see "American Hustle" (Win!) On Friday we drove down to the Avi Casino to have breakfast with one of Kaki's good friends Teri. We have had several breakfasts there when we would visit Kaki as she would always want us to go play Bingo with her, and many times we...

Jan 11, 2014 - geo-cache

Jan.10-Went with our new friends geo-caching, looking for the caches. That's their hobby & it is rather interesting. As they have a jeep we went out on a back road towards Oatman. found 3 caches, but one had been muggled (removed).Of course I managed to fall-the hill side was steep & rocky. No damage other than a few scrapes & cactus prickles and perhaps my pride (which resides in my backside!).Have decided a lot of grocery items are about the same price as Drumheller. Of course the beer & liquor is a lot cheaper. Went to Laughlin Outlet...

Jan 9, 2014 - Bullhead city

Wed.Jan.8-Went to Oatman. Happy to see the donkey's were still there. Went thru the shops & Roy found a few things. Did'nt realize it's an old gold mining town. It's also on the old route 66 road. With no wind it seemed warmer than 64 F.(at least till the sun started to go down)Checked out a couple of campgrounds at Mohave Valley.Came back in time for Happy Hour(s)with the neighbours. Thurs.- we didn't do too much- Roy was doing his thing with electronics & I was amused by Stephen King.

Dec 24, 2013 - Christmas Eve

Well here it is Christmas Eve. I have been playing Christmas music all morning trying to get Lonnie in the mood. One of our blinds broke and he has been fussing all morning. It is one he fixed before so he isn't happy about it. He was looking at some new kind of RV blind online and it was going to cost nearly a thousand dollars to get just the ones for the front living room. I told him absolutely not. So we will think of a different way to fix his problem. We went to Oatman a ghost town not far from here a couple of days ago. I included...

Enjoying Arizona

Dec 21, 2013 - Giving this a try

Well I'm going to give this a try. I enjoy reading Aunt Marty's updating everyone on her and Jackie's travels. I'll try not to bore everyone and hope I can let everyone I care about and love know how we are doing and where we are at. So here goes. We are in Bullhead City, AZ and will be until December 27th. Not much to do here unless you are a someone who like the casinos. They are across the bridge in Laughlin, NV. We can see their lights at night from our RV. They are really pretty lights and make quite a view. We are probably going to go...

Enjoying Arizona

Nov 25, 2013 - Laughlin, NV/Bullhead City, AZ

We just finished up a week at a Coast to Coast park in Bullhead City, Arizona. It was a nice park and the weather was great for the first 4 days and then the “front” moved in. It’s the same front that is marching east and causing such problems right now in the middle of the country and suppose to hit the east coast by Thanksgiving. For us it was just rain, wind and chilly temps, but I know it is now dumping ice and snow in many parts of the country. We left Las Vegas and drove south through Nevada headed for the Colorado River. The last...

Nov 19, 2013 - On to Arizonie

Tuesday Nov 19 We continued our journey south today along Hwy 95. The topography was the same with mountains, large basins, salt/mineral flats and long distance vistas. At one point we could see 6 or 7 successive ridges/mountain ranges – likely 100 miles or more to the final one. That is the way it is in the West. We passed old mines, mining towns and desert roads that begged to be explored with an ATV or Jeep. As we got closer to Las Vegas we began to see Joshua trees. We passed by the turn to the Cherry Patch at the Love Ranch, then...

Oct 15, 2013 - Day Trip: Bullhead City, AZ

It is another wonderful day on the road. We start on the motorcycle. We go 3 miles west to Needles Highway, 9 miles north to Laughlin and 3 miles east to the casinos. We arrive at the same time as our All Terrain Vehicles. John parks the motorcycle and I check the helmets. Mike, our guide, takes us across the Colorado River to Arizona. He pulls onto a dirt road and finally parks. We have arrived at our playground for the day. Mike unloads the ATV’s. He gives us our first “Do Rags” and a helmet. We are ready to play! The people who run this...
