Apr 14, 2013 - Buckeye AZ - Sundance Active Adult Community
It's time to update everyone on our adventures again. Surprisingly, we are still in Arizona. We actually left for the north country on April 1st, but we had to turn around and come back to the Goodyear/Buckeye area. (This was not an April fool's joke.) The morning of the first, we took off headed for Deming New Mexico or somewhere around there. We were about half way between Phoenix and Tucson when a very nice trucker pulled us over to tell us the roof of our camper was bubbling up and in danger of coming off. We slowly headed for Tucson,...

NICE ARENA IN A GREAT COMPLEX OF RESTAURANTS , SPORTS BARS, AND A MULTI SCREEN MOVIE THEATRE. SEATS ABOUT 17,500 BUT ONLY ABOUT 1/2 FULL. COYOTES WIN IN A SHOOT-OUT. ALLS GOOD , FANS ARE...

Day 41 (am temp 33) Painted Rocks to Buckeye and Casa Grande Ruins This will be one of the shorter travel days, as my route takes me about 55 miles from Painted Rocks to Buckeye, AZ. Remember my earlier comment about the “tighter than sardines RV parks”? Well, I are in one! My arrival in Buckeye is early enough to allow an afternoon visit to the Casa Grande Ruins, about an hour away. Once again, the pictures will tell the main story. It’s usually more interesting and more informative to join an interpretive “tour” at these locations,...

Feb 17, 2013 - Time out in Buckeye, AZ
We decided to spend two months in Buckeye, AZ. Jack was thinking of going to Salome or Quartzsite again, but I nixed that and said I'm tired of being out in the middle of no-where, so here we are, just west of Phoenix. While in CA, we spent the day with Robin Boyd and Herb & Gail Plessner, had lunch. We were going to play games but just sat and talked instead. Herb showed us pictures of the trees we gave him to plant back in 1999 and 2000 or so. We bought a living Christmas tree, an Italian Stone Pine, then he planted them after Christmas....

Jan 15, 2013 - Hung up
We stopped in Gila Bend at Auggies Quail Trail. The entire park was packed. They indicated people were tired of the crowded Yuma area and Phoenix, so the park is full most of the time. Since they were full, we went on down the road to Buckeye and stayed at Leaf Verde RV Park. It was a pretty nice RV Park. The next morning while getting ready to go, the airbag on the right side wouldn’t fill. This had been going on very intermittently, for a little while before we ended up in Rochester. We drove over to Love’s thinking they have a truck...

Feb 1, 2012 - Leaf Verde - Buckeye
Met some wonderful people at Leaf Verde RV Park in Buckeye. This is a smaller park, and the people are really nice. Its close to shopping, Spring Training Baseball (which we attended), and not far out of Phoenix. I think we will stay here again next year.

Apr 27, 2011 - Buckeye, AZ
Wednesday arrived without the high winds of the day before. So we were off with me at the wheel of the motorhome for the first time in several weeks. We hopped onto the I 10 going west instead of east as we originally planned but felt it best to head for CA. It was an uneventful trip if you overlook the fact that I missed the transition to I 8 as we reached the suburbs of Phoenix. If you take the 8 it goes south of the Phoenix traffic mess, about sixty miles later you come to Gila Bend where you turn north and go to Buckeye and meet the I...

Feb 28, 2011 - Buckeye, AZ - Feb. 28, 2011
We left Ehrenberg, AZ and headed east toward the Phoenix area. We decided we do better if we don’t travel as far, so we added this stop in Buckeye, AZ. We stayed here in November on our way back to California for the holiday season. The campground is a Snowbird destination that is pretty much full. When we called to reserve a spot they told us it wasn’t necessary, they have an entire block for overnighters. When we arrived all of the overnight sites were full, but they found us a space. The parking guide stopped in the middle of the road...

Nov 11, 2010 - Buckeye, AZ
We really hated to leave St. David, AZ, but we needed to continue on our way back to the central coast of California and the appointments we have waiting for us. Of course the number one draw is our family that lives there too, four months can be a long time. We ended up in the small town of Buckeye, AZ which is west of Phoenix on Interstate 10. Getting there was like a quilt of highways, we cut the roads up and just used the parts we wanted, sewing those parts together and ended up with even better route. I wasn’t excited about driving all...

Well everyone, we are home! We both have bittersweet feelings about coming home. Yes, we did miss our friends and local family and we wanted to check on the house but Virg and I are gypsies at heart and we loved being on the road. You may ask, "what were the highlights of our trip?". Well, there were so many, it's hard to really pin one down. We both really enjoyed our time in Banff, Canada. The Canadian Rockies are so beautiful and majestic and the people are so friendly! We also enjoyed the company of our long time friends, Wayne and Mary...

Mar 26, 2010 - My First Entry
The next journey begins.... I am inspired to start this trip journal in loving memory of my cousin, Billy Atchison of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada who passed away suddenly February 22, 2010 while in Mexico touring on his motorbike. His trip journal has inspired me to write my own.... enjoy! A little about me.... I am a single mother of one beautiful adult daughter, whom I adore. I spent all of my adult life creating a safe, loving home for my daughter and I. I knew that one day I would be able to spread MY WINGS and fly and that time has...
