Mar 12, 2017 - The White Mountains

The snow finally melted, at least most of it, in the White Mountains so we headed there to visit our friends Tricia and Steve. Tricia is my buddy from college (Oregon State). They are currently helping her sister with an RV Park while the sister goes through some health issues. We had a great time. We took some nice long drives through the mountains. There are big trees, some snow still around, and plenty of wildlife. We saw elk, bighorn, pronghorn and turkeys. It looked more like Oregon than Arizona. And not one cactus to be had. Very...

Mar 21, 2014 - White Mountain Scenic Drive

We had a great time with Betty today. We drove about 200 miles on the White Mountain Scenic Drive. We stopped at the Sunrise Ski Resort and noticed the snow is not nearly as deep as it was last time. They still had a lot of people skiing and enjoying the slopes. We also saw a HUGE snowman family, it looked like Mom had lost her upper body and head, but Pop and the kid were still in good shape. Pop even had skis on to go to the slopes. Jerry put one finishing touch on Pop so he could claim them for HIS work of art. :-) We stopped for lunch...

Jun 5, 2008 - Back in AZ

On our way home and stopping for a day to rest in the cool of the high country and pines. We are at Luna Lake in Alpine, AZ, today and will stay until Saturday. We have friends who live here so we are going to visit with them tomorrow. This is a beautiful little lake, too small for Jack’s boat, but you can rent small boats to go fishing. The lake is high from all the rain and snow this winter. In fact, they had snow here on Memorial Day. And the Ranger told us that at nearby Big Lake they had 18” of snow that day.
