May 18, 2013 - Winslow, AZ
18May2013 - Destination - "Standing on the Corner of Winslow, Arizona! We will spend a couple days at Meteor Crater RV park while touring Winslow and surrounding area. “Standing on the corner” of Winslow, AZ self-guided walking tour, breakfast, lunch, or dinner at La Posada, the original Winslow Harvey House. One of Fred Harvey's rail side restaurant hotels was one of the train stops that helped make rail travel civilized in the late 1800s. May 17, 2013 - History of the Necco
We went in to the doctor’s office at 0730 this morning for my last procedure. Unfortunately, my veins are too small and twisted for the procedure to work. After 45 minutes he gave up and I am to come back on Wednesday being sure to walk a bit before the appointment and drinking all the water I can hold to fatten up my vein. I was disappointed as it means we will have to stay here longer and probably have to give up our plans for a visit to Las Vegas, as our friends won’t be there after the 25th. While waiting for the doctor this morning...

May 16, 2013 - A mama protecting her young
We were taking Toby for his morning walk and as we came past a tree a dove flew down in front of us on the road. She was flapping her wings and seemed to be walking on one leg. Toby immediately took notice and tried to go towards her. Of course we held him back as he watched her go further away from the tree. It looked like she was attempting to fly as she hopped further down the road. I said to John “oh, no, is she injured?” He said “no, she is pretending to be so Toby will try to go for her and direct us away from the tree and her nest”....

May 15, 2013 - Wednesday in Yuma
Third procedure done today on the left calf. Hurt like heck, but not surprised. I don’t know whether it is better to know that you are going to be in pain or to be totally oblivious and perky. Maybe perky is the best. Anyhow, the leg is very swollen. Looks like balloon. Just think, you will only get one more update and then it will be on to another subject. Hang in there! We passed a restaurant today that said “boneless chicken wings” which made me think. Who bones them? They are so little, how can you possibly bone them and have any meat...

May 14, 2013 - New RV Park
For some reason I cannot download any photos, so this will be a book without pictures. Hopefully, I will get this resolved tomorrow. I had an appt. with doctor this morning to review the pain I have been having since the last procedure. All is well, it is normal, it will get better. Tomorrow I have the third procedure then only one more after that. Yeah! Heaven is a pool and a tree. Such simple pleasures can mean a great deal when you live in a "tin can". The heat is still staggering. 104 today, and boy, it was hot. But, we moved to a new...

May 13, 2013 - Whine...it's too hot!
Hot, Hot, Hot! Did I say HOT??? It was 105 degrees today and here it is 9:30 p.m. and it is 91 degrees. Miserable are we. You heard the saying “but, it’s a dry heat”. Well, that is true, but just imagine putting your oven on at 105 degrees then sticking your head in. Hot, huh? I rest my case. We went for Mexican food for lunch just because we didn’t want to cook, nor cook dinner. We had a nice lunch in an air conditioned restaurant with margaritas, of course, and then went home. That was our big outing today. Toby does not like the hot...

May 12, 2013 - Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day! My friend, Lee Ann wrote a beautiful tribute to all mother's out there and I am repeating it on this journal. Lee Ann, you are the best. "Happy Mother's Day to each and every lady reading this today! There are many women who have not given birth to a child that have fulfilled all the criteria of a Mother and shared the love of a Mother's heart. Adoptive mothers, Stepmothers and of course, Grandmothers. We are especially proud of our daughter-in-law's who are doing an amazing job with our beautiful grandchildren. We love,...

May 11, 2013 - Pros to RV Living
I know you are just on the edge of your seat wondering what I have to say...well, our dear friends Lee Ann and Larry sent me an email with their ideas of the pros to RV living. Well, they were so good, and all were the same things I might have said...so, I will take their words as I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks guys. Pros to RV Living: 1. Free to go where you want to when you want to. 2. Meet great people 3. See things all year long that most people have to get to in two or three weeks a year. 4. No yard work to do. 5. If...

May 11, 2013 - Quartzsite, AZ - Ameri-Can Trails RV Park
The trip from Phoenix to Quartzsite, AZ was essentially 139 miles of driving through the desert on the interstate. It was a short drive and the highway was in pretty good condition except for about 20 miles on I-10. We arrived at about 12:30 in quartzsite to 95° temps. The RV Park I had planned on staying in was closed, as was about 80% of the rest of them. I am glad I had researched the many RV Parks so I had second and third choices if necessary. We are staying at the Ameri-Can Trails RV Park which is a nice park and completely empty...

May 10, 2013 - Cons to RV living
I had to go in for a check up on the vein procedure and all is well. The vein is sealed up nicely. Yeah! Having a lot of discomfort, however, because (I think) from all the time in the truck since Monday when we left California. Will be taking it easy for the next few days. The weather forecast is for YIKES! over 100 degrees for the next week. Double YIKES! We are leaving Tacna on Tuesday for a new RV park in Yuma. After the Dr.'s appt. we had 5 parks to look at to make our decision. Well, our dumb GPS is over 5 years old, without any...

May 10, 2013 - Travel day - Kingman, Arizona
Well I have said before that no winds and having dry roads is what it takes to make an RVer happy on travel day. I forgot about other things - like steep downhill grades and windy, rough roads - that has the problem today. So happy to be off the road, was tired of getting beat up. Time for happy hour - after a trip like today it could help. So until the next time........... Have fun and stay safe God Bless Ken and Fran

May 10, 2013 - Kingman, AZ
Wanted to show our return home route on the map. We had a great visit with Bob's nephew and his wife. They just moved to Kingman late last year from Washington. We also got to bump into Bob's niece and her husband as they were heading to Phoenix. Kingman's claim to fame is that Andy Devine lived here. It is also part of the Route 66 road. We are in Mojave today and will be home tomorrow. It is warm here..... Ok I think that is it for the journal. You can see the Mojove on the map. Bye again !!!
