Aug 8, 2014 - Tolsona Wilderness

Decided to leave late this morning, 10. We usually leave the parks about 8. We didn't get up to rain and it was very cold. We headed towards Valdez with a planned stop near Tolsona at a RV park in the wilderness. We had stayed here on our last visit three years ago. Very nice place with all the spaces backing up to the river. We had our first camp fire and roasted marsh mellows and Terry even roasted a hot dog. He decided he hadn't done that in about 30 years. We then prepared our second dinner of fresh halibut and made poor man's lobster....

Aug 13, 2011 - Anchorage to Tolsona Wilderness RV Park

Left Anchorage in the rain. Messy break-down. However, by the time we reached Tolsona the rain had gone away and we had a nice afternoon to enjoy the area. We had halibut quiche, that was wonderful, s'mores over our great fire and we all enjoyed roaming around the area. i spotted a ptarmigan while walking around. Our camp ground was near the river and we watched the man across the river from us fly fish and catch a fish for his daughter's dinner....

HUNDLEYS TO ALASKA

Jun 26, 2009 - Tolsona, AK - Tolsona Wilderness Campground

It was only about a four hour trip from Valdez up to Tolsona which is about 14 miles west of Glen Allan. That included a stop at Worthington Glacier so we could get a little closer to it. Tolsona Campground is a nice campground where all sites are next to a fast running creek. It has electric and water and is very shaded, too shaded as I clipped a tree coming into our pull-through site and did quite a bit of damage. I have included a few pictures. The picture of the campsite showing the rear of the Mothership was after five hours of work...

2009 Alaska

Aug 22, 2008 - Suffering from PKPD!

. Suffering from PKPD (Post-Kenai Peninsula Depression) we began our travel day with a reasonable low temperature of 48 degrees and the sun peeking over the mountains to the east of our campsite in Palmer. Passing through alternating sunshine and rain showers we arrived at our destination, located about 13 miles west of Glennallen, with an afternoon high in the upper 50’s and more light rain. Because we didn’t have a long drive today, we took it fairly easy with our early morning schedule. We didn’t, however, remove many items from storage,...

Aug 9, 2008 - Tolsona AK

With all the rain, it was a good day to travel anyway. We did run into a couple of construction zones, but as they weren't blasting today, we weren't held up for very long. The further east we traveled, we were more and more blessed with blue skies. Tolsona was a great place to stop for the night, and after a brief storm blowing through (it even hailed!) it cleared once again. We had a nice fire, over which Rog did some pork chops for dinner.

Aug 4, 2008 - End of Copper Center stay

Mon 8-4 Pulled out of Copper Center this morning heading back north for a few days waiting for our friends Bud & Betsy to make their way his way. Meeting up with them in Valdez next week end hopping to catch some Silver’s. Bud has one boat running and he’s leaving the other in Homer to have the engine replaced. Hopefully the sea’s will be good and we can get some fishing in. My stay at Copper Center was not a good one for catching fish. We were there for 14 days and I put only 12 Red’s in the freezer. My last fishing trip at Copper Center...
