Hi All - I got into Anchorage late last night. The weather conditions in Alaska make plane flight schedules unreliable. I had an excellent time at St. Paul, met some great people, got all the common birds of the Island and some rare vagrants. The Great Knot is probably the rarest bird so far! There are about 400 people who live on St. Paul all year. St. George only has a population of 80 or 90 people and there is no tourist visitation. These two Islands make up the Pribilof's. TUESDAY, JULY 11, 2006 Today we had a leisurely morning and in the afternoon we took a cruise on the sternwheeler Discovery III. It was a wonderful trip and we saw so much it would be impossible to mention it all. We cruised up the Chena River to the Tanana River and then cruised up the Tanana far enough to stop at a reconstructed Indian village.
