Jul 16, 2007 - Day 35: Aerial view of the "Ring of Fire"

Today we parked at a private airport lot, set up the trailer so as to run the refrigerator on Propane and took the private lot's shuttle into the airport. We were so efficient, that we had 2 hours to kill at the airport before leaving for St. Paul, one of the Pribilof Islands, in the Bering Sea. Check-in was not accompanied by any obvious security. No questions about always being with one's bags, no inspection of liquids, not x-ray screening of carry-on luggage. I guess the thoughts are that even suicide terrorists would not possibly pick a...

May 22, 2007 - Pribilof Islands

Hi all - Not hooked up for internet except for this one computer. Which i finally got access too. I'm on the Island St. Paul. It's cold, windy, windy, windy, and barren looking. Lots of volcanic rock and old wild celery stalks. I have seen a number of new bird species and taken a lot of pictures. I have seen Harbor seals, Sea Lions and Stellar's seal. Also, Arctic foxes that are a pest to the locals on the island. They are hooking up another place for internet connection later today so maybe i can get some pictures up of the birds I have...
