Hi again folks. Back to ya after leaving Soldotna and Anchorage. We are really not in Chickaloon but that is the closest town that this program recognizes. We had a pleasant trip up from Soldotna. Went to the Russian River Ferry in an attempt to see bears feeding. However, reports we got that bears had not been seen for about a week. Closer in to Anchorage, spotted some Beluga whales as we traveled the Seward Highway. Belugas, an arctic whale, are white in color and for the most part are very docile and friendly. Jul 24, 2011 - Chickaloon

2011-07-24 Chickaloon Moving on towards Valdez today. It's about 300 miles from Eagle River so we may stop about halfway. Sixty one miles out of Anchorage on the A1, Glenn Highway, is a wide spot in the road called Chickaloon. We pulled up in front of a Cafe/Bar and went in to check it out. The first thing I saw was a lot of baked goods lined up on the counter. I went back outside and waved the rest of our group to come inside. Jun 28, 2008 - Seward to Chickaloon

Today we left Seward and headed for Valdez. On the way we stopped at Hope, it's a very quaint little town with just a few buildings. About five eagles were sitting on the beach. After leaving Homer we drove to Chickaloon and spent the night along the road.
