Jul 28, 2016 - Leaving the Kenai Peninsula after 23 days!!
Leaving the Kenai Peninsula for the last time on this trip. Seems a bit strange after spending 23 days in this area, it's been a real experience to say the least! We're heading to Big Lake, AK (we couldn't resist, lol), we arrived around 5 pm and dry camped right on the lake. The campground hosts, Ray & Jo Bennett were very nice & fun to visit with. Jo had baked some cookies and brought us some for the road, they were yummy!! Also, we had to stop at Home Depot on the way to camp and buy some lumber to repair the bench seat in the camper.Jump to full entry
Jun 28, 2009 - Going to the Dogs
On the way back to Anchorage, Marilyn, Ed, Lisa, Mike and Kristie made a stop at Martin Buser’s Happy Trails Kennel in Big Lake for a tour. Buser is a four time Iditarod champion. They had fun playing with the puppies, trying on cold weather clothes, and taking a sled ride. They are ready to enter the 2010 race except they are a few dogs short!Jump to full entry
Aug 17, 2008 - Big Lake Ak

Mike took the kid’s for rides on their wave runner and the whole family for a boat ride on the lake. The weather was nice and the stay was quite relaxing. The kids also fished some and ran through several sets of batteries on a remote control boat. Of course, Erik kept track of the Grebes on the lake. We even took in some of the Olympics. Carly really enjoyed watching...Jump to full entry
