Jun 25, 2017 - June 25, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 25, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama Today I’ve cleaned house and done laundry. It was raining when I got up this morning, but it stopped early on. The sun didn’t come out until mid-afternoon so it was cool most of the day. I finished reading one book and read another. Tomorrow, Joliffe will be towed to Huntsville where the bearing will be replaced. Tonight I’ve watched My Mother and Other Strangers and Grantchester. I’m really enjoying those two. I tried watching the Prime Suspect Tennyson show, but I couldn’t get interested in that one. jnd

Jun 24, 2017 - June 24, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 24, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama It rained most of the morning. I drove into Scottsboro to go to the Unclaimed Baggage store one last time. I found a pair of trekking poles. Since they sell for about $150, I thought the $15 at the store was a good buy. I think they will help with some of the hiking we will be doing next spring on the Galapagos trip. I spent the rest of the day doing laundry, crossword puzzles and watching old Eddie Dean movies. jnd

Jun 23, 2017 - June 23, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 23, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama It must have rained all night because the puddles were quite large this morning. It was cloudy when I got up, but the sun came out around 8 or so. I put the awning out to shade the living room and was working a crossword puzzle when the wind came up. I was able to get the awning in before there was any damage. Shortly after that it clouded over and has rained off and on all the rest of the day. The weather radio started going off about 2 when the tornado watch was issued until 8 tonight. I got things ready...

Jun 19, 2017 - June 19, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 19, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama It was raining when I woke up this morning so I turned over and went back to sleep. It rained off and on until around noon. When I did get up, I spent time catching up on my email since I just basically vegged out last night. I went into Scottsboro and had lunch at KFC. After that I went to the Unclaimed Baggage store where I got a backpack for Patsy for the Galapagos trip next spring. I also found some books and a kindle. My old kindle gave out on me a year or so ago, and I’ve been using an 11” laptop...

Jun 16, 2017 - June 16, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 16, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama This has been a quiet day. It was really foggy this morning when I got up this morning, and it didn’t really clear up until almost 9. I spent the morning editing pictures from yesterday. After lunch, I ran into Scottsboro to the Unclaimed Baggage store to see what was new. I found a couple of pair of shorts and a book. I stopped at the grocery store on my way home. Nothing very exciting today, but it was relaxing. jnd

Jun 14, 2017 - June 14, 2017 – Woodville and Stevenson, Alabama and South Pittsburg, Tennessee

June 14, 2017 – Woodville and Stevenson, Alabama and South Pittsburg, Tennessee I spent the morning editing pictures from yesterday and getting caught up on my email. This afternoon, I headed out to see a couple of things which are close by. Stevenson had 3 things to see – Fort Harker, Helton Memorial Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and the Depot Museum. I didn’t have an address for the church which is evidently located outside of town. It was built in 1900 and is one of the churches on Alabama’s Hallelujah Trail. Needless to say, I...

Jun 10, 2017 - June 10, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 10, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama Since I wasn’t going anywhere today, I slept in. I spent the morning finishing the writing of my blog posts and editing pictures. It was nice to just relax and not be on the road for a change. I still have a lot of things to see in this area so I’ll be on the road again soon. I did go into Scottsboro for a while this afternoon. I stopped by the Unclaimed Baggage store, but I didn’t find anything. I stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few things. This evening, I’m trying to upload pictures, but the...

Jun 6, 2017 - June 6, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 6, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama It rained most of the night, I think. It was raining when I went to bed and when I got up this morning, and it continued to rain until around noon. By then, it was too late to go anywhere. While it was raining this morning, I sorted receipts and got them ready to file. I haven’t done that yet, but I’ll get it done later this week. That’s as far as the house cleaning got, but at least it’s a start. I finished reading a book, picked out another to read and did some crosswords. I’ve also edited my blog posts...

Jun 5, 2017 - June 5, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 5, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama This morning I ran into Scottsboro to the Unclaimed Baggage store. I didn’t find anything today, but this is the kind of place you need to go to regularly as they are always putting out new things. According to them, they get 7,000 new items every day. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and got a few things. I also stopped by the Jackson County Courthouse to see the pencil-headed head of Andrew Jackson. It was sculpted by an unknown artist during the bicentennial. The bust has a head no wider...

Jun 1, 2017 - June 1, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

June 1, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama I spent this morning scoping out things to see in this area. Since I will be here at the campground until June 26th and will be at the campground at the repair place for a week or more, I might just as well spend some time seeing things. The rest of the day, I worked crossword puzzles. Tomorrow, I think I’ll head over to Red Bay and see what I can find out about getting the slide fixed. Jnd

May 31, 2017 - May 31, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama

May 31, 2017 – Woodville, Alabama When I got up this morning about 6:30, the fog was hanging on the mountain tops. By a little after 7, it had lowered to the valley where I’m camped. By 9 it was gone. I am in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains so I’m getting the early morning fog. I noticed some oil or grease on the passenger side front wheel day before yesterday. Today, I took a sample of it into Huntsville to the RV repair place which the campground folks recommended. They think that I have a bearing which is going out. Since this model...
