Apr 26, 2020 - Troy, AL - Deer Run RV Park

We got away at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning and, after driving 333 miles in a little over six hours, we arrived at Deer Run RV Park a little north of Troy, AL. It was an easy drive on Interstate 10 west and US 231 north, giving the Mothership a drink at the I-10/US-231 intersection. Check in at the RV park was touch-less as you call the office when you get here and give them your payment info. They then escort you to your site and leave your receipt and park info behind your windshield wiper. Coming across the Florida panhandle we had managed...

Jun 4, 2019 - Deer Run RV Park

This morning we got an unusually early start and left the Bunk House RV Park at 0715, just before the majority of Tiffin works clog the road around 0730. The morning was mild with a high thin layer of cirrus clouds resulting in a cooler atmosphere. We knew we wanted to travel a minimum of 200 plus miles today which would have taken us as far as Montgomery, Alabama. Everything was going great when Marge noticed that the front right corner of the front window inside shades had broken free from the base. It was about 20 miles to the next rest...

Apr 6, 2018 - Troy, AL - Deer Run RV Park

Our trip from home to Troy was 333 miles along I-10 across the top of Florida then US-231 from I-10 through Troy, AL. There wasn't a lot to take pictures of so not many are loaded. We have stayed at the Deer Run RV Park just north of Troy for two nights. This is a very nice, well run park that is very popular with travelers. We have a 50 amp, full hookup, long pull-through that allows us to leave Libby attached for a quick getaway!! We have nice grass lawns on each side with a picnic table as well. The site is a little larger than most...

Wow, another winter season is over. We had a wonderful time at TGO with family and friends. We started the season with Glenna's mom and dad, Had visits from Ty, Jo and Ben, and Cathy and Chris, Willy and Marisa, Ross and Mel, Linda and Warren, Al and Jill, Bob and Charlotte, Tim and Gail , Tom and Linda and Bryce and Jan. We had David and Lindsay, Diane, Keegan and Rowan, and Jason, Jackie and Braydon all in for a visit during the winter. On top of that we went home to visit with Peter, Amanda, and new baby Madelyn. How's that for a fun...

Nov 29, 2016 - Troy AL

We had hoped that things would have moved more quickly, but it is, after all, Red Bay. Kind of reminds me of Las Vegas...sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t. This trip, we didn’t...in some respects. The service scheduler met up with us early Monday and said that we should get into a service bay either later Monday or Tuesday before the holiday for our short list of repairs. That would have been terrific. But alas, it was not to be. Seems that due to Tiffin’s process, until our insurance claim for the windshield gets approved by...

Apr 9, 2016 - On the road again

After two months in Florida we are on the road again. We traveled about 7 hours north into Alabama to the city of Troy. I'm totally amazed at all the bright green. Even though the trees did leaf out in Florida it was not nearly as glorious as here. And it feels like home. On the news, we hear daily about Troy, AL, reminding us of Sara's (Gary's daughter) home city of Troy, of Greenville, AL (Gary's home town in Ohio) and of Logan County, AL! I guess there are only so many city and county names to choose from! We arrived here mostly in one...

Oct 21, 2015 - Troy, AL - Deer Run RV Park

The trip from Red Bay to Troy, AL encompassed 251 miles, mostly on interstates 22 and 65. The trip through Birmingham is never fun as the roads are not the best and the Mothership gets a complete, literal shakedown. We did manage to give her a drink on the north side of Birmingham which will last her to our normal fill-up not far from home. We are staying at the Deer Run RV Park which is a very popular park between Red Bay and Florida for Tiffin owners. There are four of us here tonight! It is a very nice park with nice full hookup...

Oct 14, 2014 - Rescue on River....

This happened right after we got to the park and were set up.... one of the guys had a two way radio so he told us what was going on.... the little towboat pushing this barge had lost oil pressure and had to hang on until a rescue boat could get there... meanwhile floating ever closer to the bank right in front of us! Didn't get a picture of the rescue boat coming in but maybe you can see them switching places... then the crippled guy headed gingerly up to the next spot where he could get repairs. Quite interesting! Last time we were there...

We're now down in Troy, AL at Deer Run RV park.... (they even have a spa here! ;>... we started out early and stopped early ... kind of neat for a change! Last night we stayed at Sleepy Holler park near Jasper, AL... as befits its name, it is kind of uh... "homemade"?? Also the first time we've had the fun of getting in contact with fire ants again!! Phil took a couple of direct hits while hooking up.... Every once in awhile we run into a spot that really isn't all that bad... but you can hear distant bars of Dueling Banjos in the...

Jul 7, 2014 - Troy, AL - Deer Run RV Park

Our first trip this year was 333 miles from home to just north of Troy, AL. The journey was uneventful with most of it along I-10 until we headed north on US-231. The traffic was heavy the whole trip (the end of July 4th week-end) but there were no delays until just south of Dothan, AL. We had several slowdowns in a 10 mile stretch where the road and red lights just couldn't handle the load. We are staying at the Deer Run RV Park and it is a very nice stopover while on the road. We have a spacious (for an RV Park on the highway) site with...

Aug 24, 2013 - Troy Alabama

24Aug 13 - We are headed to Troy, Alabama and will spend two nights at the Deer Run RV park. Earl and KC enjoyed the trip and were very well behaved. KC stayed in his bed while Earl laid on the back of the sofa and watched out the window. We arrived to a nice paved level space with grass and were set up around 3:10PM. We are finally out of the gravel parking lot in Red Bay...yeah!! 25Aug 13 - We decided to ride into downtown Troy. Very nice clean town with a variety of different style homes, definitely not your "cookie cutter" neighborhood....
