May 10, 2015 - Day Trip: Talladega, Alabama

Happy Mother’s Day After breakfast, we discuss our options. We decide to walk to Camping World. It is adjacent to the RV Park. We want to see how warm it will get today. Silly us! It is May and we are in Alabama. It is going to be hot! The Camping World opens at 12:00. We decide to go to the Talladega Superspeedway. I call to make sure that they are open. Should we take the motorcycle or ride in air conditioned comfort? It is no contest. The air conditioned comfort wins. Last weekend there was a major NASCAR race at Talladega. The racetrack...

Dec 2, 2013 - Heading Home, Report on Meme

One night stop at Ozark, Al, Tallahassee tomorrow for 2 weeks, then to Mayo. I spoke to Danny's Mom, Meme, case worker. She is making some progress, requires set up to feed self and is very slow and improving with her transfers. They are waiting for call back from Westminster Oaks to determine where she will transfer early next week. There is no doubt in my mind that she will not be returning to the assistive living section.

Nov 28, 2013 - Giving Thanks and Work Blessings

We are so blessed to be able to serve the Lord in this fashion. Wed and Fri of this week the convention center is closed. A couple organized work days to clean yards and buildings for widows and widowers. Hard work to clean up yards where nothing had been done for a very long time. The pay off, home cooked meals by two delicious cooks served in a 1937 home. The building was constructed when Davie Crockett was a senator. One of my blessings, to be able to decorate 2 Christmas trees. Thanksgivng day. There were 12 volunteers who gathered for...

Hot and dusty here this morn, bike ride to Lowes and camping world, some shopping.Gone all morn felt really good to on the bike. Fellow campers are the best so far, helpful & friendly, much better than Texas. Had some Alabama shine, WOW, went to ARCA Race what a monster track packed loose stuff. Tornado warnings in effect hailed twice last night, they say that's a sign of storms coming. Tiny little ants every where got all over Randi's left foot, felt like tiny needles then it went numb and poof there she was wearing an ant sock.

On the Road Again

Apr 28, 2007 - Race Day - Busch

Today was all about Talladega. Left Birmingham and headed off down the I-20, picked up my tickets at will call, then headed into the parking lot. Where I ran into one of the parking attendants - literally!!!! He just appeared from no where, right in front of my car, so I ran into him. Ooops. No broken bones and, just as important, no damage to the rental car LOL It was just as exciting on-track, a fantastic race, and several large wrecks. Most of them caused by Tony Stewart. When I commented to the woman next to me, 'you gotta love Tony!' I...
