Apr 10, 2011 - Got Hot

Sunday, April 10, 2011 Finished up our work on Friday, whew, hot, hi 80’s. Barb worked on her siding detail and I finished up window trim. Larry our boss said he was very sorry to see us go. So he took us out to dinner that night to a place called Country BBQ. Yumm It was an interesting experience all in all. We are glad we did it but are disappointed that we were the only couple working. Larry made it very enjoyable tho and we feel guilty leaving him with all that work. But we are ready to move on and definitely ready to get back to the...

Apr 7, 2011 - Dodged a bullet

Thursday, April 7, 2011 Whoops, guess I shoulda let folks know a little earlier that we did survive. But it was worrisome for a while. The tv was flashing warnings, the 11 o’clock news (we are on eastern time) showed an ugly band stretching from Louisiana to Kentucky heading right for us. We debated what to do and just sorta sat tight and waited. We pulled our slides in as a precaution since they were talking golf ball size hail in places but to us…….nothing happened. It all missed us. There were no real strong winds and only a brief...

Apr 4, 2011 - We visit Plains, GA and meet someone

Monday, April 04, 2011 We got thru the work week feeling better every day. On Friday nite we went out to dinner with Larry, our boss, and his wife Barbara. Went to a good seafood restaurant in Columbus and had a good time. On Saturday we drove to Plains, Georgia. When Barb saw it was so close, about 45 miles, she said we should go see. We both feel that Jimmy Carter has done some great things since he was president, one of which is Habitat for Humanity. Just outside of Plains we came to a sign for his boyhood home so we swung in there. It...

Mar 30, 2011 - Hi ho, hi ho it's off to work we go

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 Sunday morning bright and early we packed up and hit the road heading for Phenix City and the Habitat for Humanity build we had signed up for. Another very warm beautiful morning. I hated to leave Gulf Shores and the beach but duty called. It was easy travlin. Hit I-65 and headed north. This is a new piece of highway for us. It was more scenic than we expected. There was very little development and a loooot of pine trees along the way. There was much more traffic than we expected for a Sunday. Went thru Montgomery...

Nov 14, 2007 - Visit with Cousin Earlene

WEDNESDAY Today I drove to Phenix City, Alabama to visit with Cousin Earlene a few days. She told me that she had driven by the local RV park and did not like the looks of it. She wanted me to park in her driveway. It is long enough for both Daisy and Sweet Pea. The neighbor across the street is letting Earlene park her car over there. Earlene got off work a little early today so we had time to visit a little while before going to her church. Each Wednesday they have a potluck dinner in the fellowship hall. Then they sing a couple of songs...
