Day #45, April 2, 2012, Monday: Got away early and had a fine drive up through the western outskirts of Tallahassee, then northwest to Montgomery and camped in an Alabama S.P. just south of Birmingham. I'm sending these from the balcony of a beautiful golf course contained within the park.

Apr 25, 2011 - Oak Mountain State Park, Birmingham, AL

On Monday we decided to head up to Oak Mountain State Park to visit the Alabama Wildlife Center. Oak Mountain SP is a 10,000 acre state park located in Pelham, AL where our RV park was. The Wildlife Center is a wildlife rehabilitation center. The center treats injured or orphaned wildlife from the greater Birmingham area and birds of prey from across the state. It treats approximately 2,500 animals each year. While not all of the animals being treated at the center are on display, you have the opportunity to observe many of the patients...

The Long Road Home

Jun 16, 2009 - day 2

left this morning at 9am. Gassed up $75.00 (30gal). Arrived Oak Mountain State Park, Pehlam, AL at 4pm. Spent 1 extra hour on I85 due to major accident. Miles traveled 296. Mileage 43681. Trailer is low in dips, ripped the electrical wire for the trailer, Tony repaired before dinner, which was Tuna Casserole with rye bread. Going to make coffee and go to bed now. Local time is 10:50 pm. Shower in the RV was good, going to bed with wet hair From Bunny & Leo Ditto above except I thought I broke our RV. Not realizing with only 30amp service I...
