So after 10 weeks of traveling and eating too much I could barely fit into my new smaller clothes so out of desperation off we went on another hike. I guess my only successful diet is to walk and climb and trip 10 hours a day while eating salty freeze dried food and poptarts. Salads and the gym treadmill make me GAIN weight. We started the Pinhoti Trail Hike on Saturday Oct 20th by taking Greyhound to Alexander City AL where a driver picked us up and drove us another 30 miles over rocky forest roads to the southern trailhead. Jun 13, 2017 - June 13, 2017 – Rainsville, Fort Payne, Cedar Bluff, Centre, Heflin, Roanoke, Lanett and Daviston, Alabama

June 13, 2017 – Rainsville, Fort Payne, Cedar Bluff, Centre, Heflin, Roanoke, Lanett and Daviston, Alabama I had a great time today. I drove one Scenic byway in its entirety and part of another one. I started out in Rainsville where there was a giant prospector sitting on top of a building. The next stop was in next door neighbor Fort Payne where there is a station wagon impaled into the side of an auto parts store. Its license plate is Jesus. Cedar Bluff is the location of a cold blast furnace which made pig iron for the Confederate...

Sep 16, 2011 - Heflin, AL

Another driving day. We wanted to wash the motor home and Jeep so stopped at Blue Beacon in Tuscaloosa. I walked Foxy while Joe tended to the washing process. We topped off our fuel and decided to have an early lunch at the restaurant at the truck stop. Our home for the night was at Cane 9 Creek RV Park; we had the place to ourselves. Tomorrow, we should get to Gaffney.
