October 31, 2018 Gulf Shores Alabama At the recommendation of a fellow camper we took a couple of days to just chill out and relax at Gulf Shores State Park. This was a full-service park with approximately 500 sites and miles of biking and hiking trails. Located in Gulf Shores Alabama with a large fishing pier on the coast and bike trails to the Ocean. It gave us chance to just clean up the trucks and the 5th wheel follow over 6000 miles so far.

Grand Canyon

Apr 23, 2018 - Gulf State Park, Alabama

On our way to Savannah from New Orleans we decided to spend a few days at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This place is a gem. The park is huge and has walking/biking paths (you can even rent bikes), a beautiful pool, tennis courts, boats to rent and more. There is a great nature center and they offer programs throughout the week. We had the opportunity to go on a "pier hike" on the park's very long pier and beach with the naturalist where we learned about the gulf environment and animals that both live in and migrate through the...

Spring 2018 Travels

Dec 30, 2015 - Surprise visit

Just before we left St Andrews Don saw on Facebook that our friends, Dan and Rosemary were staying at Gulf State Park, which was right on the way (sort of) to our next destination , so we headed their way for a couple of nights. We left late to try to avoid the worst of the massive thunderstorm that was sweeping the coast. It was a soggy journey. It would have been quite picturesque with less rain and fog, but still was not as bad as we had expected. We got to the park and set up in the rain around 4 o'clock. Dan and Rosemary came over...
