Apr 15, 2017 - Back Home

We left Alabama on March 27th and drove to Ft. Myers, FL to see friends who had moved their 2 years ago: Dennis & Tracy Wagaman. They provided us with a tour of the area and Sanibel Island. We ate at some fine restaurants including the Ford Garage, a unique dining experience downtown. It was nice to see their home and catch up on each other's lives. From there we traveled to St. Augustine, FL and stayed at Compass RV Park. We purchased 3 day trolley passes and met the campground shuttle that took us to the trolley downtown. Nice that we...

Feb 2, 2017 - January, 2017

January, 2017 flew by with some gorgeous weather, in spite of a few days of storms that came in from the Gulf Coast. With a washer/dryer in the RV, I was able to hang our clothes on the line which made it nice. Dan and I have enjoyed our poker nights, Bingo (Dan is the caller), and other activities in the Park. We have been on 2 bus trips to Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi, MS. The bus costs $10 and everyone receives $20 in casino play and 1/2 price buffet lunch. Not a bad deal for a fun day with 40+ park residents as long as you play...

Jan 25, 2017 - STEPH's KNEE - Update

Steph was discharged from the Rehab facility today and has an evaluation for outpatient rehab in the morning. She has had her rehab vodka already. She got great reports from the PT''s at rehab and they stated that she is about 2-1/2 weeks ahead of where they would expect her to be. She is walking really well with just a cane and although slow she seems to being doing stairs pretty good. Her big problem is leading with the correct leg - she normally leads with her left but but that is the leg she had surgery on and they want her to lead with...

Jan 19, 2017 - STEPH's KNEE - Update

Stephanie is doing extremely well. For the most part she has ditched the walker and walking with just a cane. Yesterday, she walked outside around 1600' and up 20 steps with the cane. I thing the impressive part is that there is a 20 - 30 degree slope where she walked. The therapist was with her on this walk. Today, she had a visit with the surgeon who was really impressed with her progress. He did delay taking the staples out for 5 days. Steph's goal is to get a little more stable with the cane on uneven surfaces and then come home -...

Jan 12, 2017 - STEPH's KNEE - Update

Steph seems to be doing well, as expected, and has walked with a walker 50' or so several times yesterday. She has been told that she will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow and transferred to a rehab facility. Because of the design of our coach we felt ithis would be better for her rehab to go to this facility.

Dec 22, 2016 - Merry Christmas!

We would like to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and our wishes for healthy and prosperous New Year. Several of you have asked - Stephanie's first knee replacement surgery (left) will take place on Jan 10. Assuming everything goes OK, the other knee replacement will take place in 10 - 12 weeks. Needless to say, she is not looking forward to this but hopes the day-to-day pain will go away and that we will not have to skip many other things due to the knees. As mentioned before, we will update the recipient list on this...

Nov 22, 2016 - Happy Thanksgiving!

To our friends and relatives that choose to keep up with our travels - we sincerely hope this has been a healthy year and we extend our hope that you have a restful Thanksgiving Holiday. The summer saw us put around 7,000 miles on the coach and some 22,000 miles on the Jeep. We are now back in lower Alabama for a relaxing fall and winter. So far, we haven't seen much relaxing as annual service on the coach, some unexpected work (like a new oven and microwave), and doctor and dental appointments have kept us busy. Our doctor visits have...

Apr 16, 2016 - More fun and on the road again, but not far

Once again we have spent a great winter at our favorite place, Anchors Aweigh RV Resort. We have really enjoyed all the fun times we have had this winter with many old and new friends. We continued with all our regular fun activities and even found more fun things to do. Bob and his friends played music ever chance that they got so I got to spend a lot of time being a roadie. After Mardi Gras in February the weather just got better and better and we were able to enjoy our winter home even more. One beautiful Saturday at the end of February...

Apr 13, 2016 - Back Home in Lincoln

We arrived back home on April 7th after spending a wonderful week with my cousin Sue and Tim Suppe. Also, connected with my Aunt Jean & Uncle Max Figary who live in the same development in New Smyrna Beach, FL. My Aunt & Uncle, now in their early 90s, keep active with park activities and playing card games at home. Sue, Tim, Dan and I made side trips to some of our special places we like to visit, eg. the Deland airport where we had lunch and watched the parachutists, the Daytona flea market, Panheads for pizza, a trip to the beach, playing...

Apr 10, 2016 - Foley, AL - Bella Terra RV Resort

It was an easy 190 miles from Chattahoochee to Foley, all on I-10 until just past Pensacola when we started south. We gave the Mothership a drink just after entering Alabama for 1.99/gal. It only took 48 gallons so we filled up for less than C-note - imagine that!! We like to keep the tank close to full when we stop, if convenient, as that discourages moisture in the tank and also allows us to run the generator if needed for an extended time or to just escape in case of an emergency. Doris was having trouble with the camera so again we have...

Mar 26, 2016 - Leaving Alabama

We are packing up to go to Florida for a few days. Hope we leave all this rain behind as we leave the Central time zone and the Gulf Coast. Over the 4 months we have been here, we have had 6 tornado watches, and one night we were called over to the Club House with a warning of one 8 miles away. Way too many for us and the kitties! Friday, we went to Fairhope to B&B Pecans to purchase 5# to take home. We'll enjoy those this summer! Friday night, the last Jam Session/Ice Cream Social for the Snowbirds was fantastic as usual. Hard to imagine...
