Apr 16, 2016 - More fun and on the road again, but not far

Once again we have spent a great winter at our favorite place, Anchors Aweigh RV Resort. We have really enjoyed all the fun times we have had this winter with many old and new friends. We continued with all our regular fun activities and even found more fun things to do. Bob and his friends played music ever chance that they got so I got to spend a lot of time being a roadie. After Mardi Gras in February the weather just got better and better and we were able to enjoy our winter home even more. One beautiful Saturday at the end of February...

Apr 13, 2016 - Back Home in Lincoln

We arrived back home on April 7th after spending a wonderful week with my cousin Sue and Tim Suppe. Also, connected with my Aunt Jean & Uncle Max Figary who live in the same development in New Smyrna Beach, FL. My Aunt & Uncle, now in their early 90s, keep active with park activities and playing card games at home. Sue, Tim, Dan and I made side trips to some of our special places we like to visit, eg. the Deland airport where we had lunch and watched the parachutists, the Daytona flea market, Panheads for pizza, a trip to the beach, playing...

Apr 10, 2016 - Foley, AL - Bella Terra RV Resort

It was an easy 190 miles from Chattahoochee to Foley, all on I-10 until just past Pensacola when we started south. We gave the Mothership a drink just after entering Alabama for 1.99/gal. It only took 48 gallons so we filled up for less than C-note - imagine that!! We like to keep the tank close to full when we stop, if convenient, as that discourages moisture in the tank and also allows us to run the generator if needed for an extended time or to just escape in case of an emergency. Doris was having trouble with the camera so again we have...

Mar 26, 2016 - Leaving Alabama

We are packing up to go to Florida for a few days. Hope we leave all this rain behind as we leave the Central time zone and the Gulf Coast. Over the 4 months we have been here, we have had 6 tornado watches, and one night we were called over to the Club House with a warning of one 8 miles away. Way too many for us and the kitties! Friday, we went to Fairhope to B&B Pecans to purchase 5# to take home. We'll enjoy those this summer! Friday night, the last Jam Session/Ice Cream Social for the Snowbirds was fantastic as usual. Hard to imagine...

Mar 7, 2016 - February news

February flew by with Mardi Gras activities, Valentines Day party, yard sale, and other Anchors Aweigh events. We had one interesting experience when folks were knocking on doors one evening warning of an impending tornado forming 8 miles away. We hurried to the storm shelter and within 1/2 hour, the threat was over. We endured heavy rain and wind but no tornado. Thank goodness! In all, we had 5 tornado warnings since our arrival. We have had problems with our refrigerator not cooling properly and luckily Mike Ewing RV Repair managed to get...

Feb 13, 2016 - A couple of months of winter fun

Since my last post we have had a lot of winter fun, in mid December, as usual, our Greedy Santa Party was a big hit here at the park. Darling little wine purses were the gifts most stolen, they and many other gifts caused a lot of laughing. Bob was happy with his first gift, a gift pack of Jack Daniels but after that was stolen he ended up with a massage monkey, he seemed to like that too. The gift I ended up with after my wine purse, a beautiful red imitation alligator one, was stolen was two boxes of chocolates; I’m not sure which one I...

Jan 15, 2016 - Keeping Busy

December and all the Holiday excitement is now behind us and the rest of the Snowbirds have arrived for the winter. The Annual Boat Parade, Greedy Santa Party, and Christmas Dinner were lots of fun. Dan and I keep quite busy with something going on every night and a busy daytime schedule as well. Monday begins Texas Hold 'Em, followed by Poker, Bingo, Mexican Train, Ice Cream Social/Jam Session, and Breakfast on Saturday (put on by volunteers here at the campgrounds). We have tickets for the Branson Tour in Loxley and a casino trip to...

Dec 3, 2015 - Some sadness and looking forward to winter fun

After we left Dumplin Valley Farm RV Park we made three more stops before arriving at our winter home in Foley, Alabama. We spent a week at Raccoon Mountain Campground in Chattanooga, TN, then 2 nights at Birmingham South Campground in Pelham, AL and 2 nights at Sherling Lake Park Campground in Greenville, AL. For the most part we just did a lot of relaxing and not much sight seeing. We arrived at Anchors Aweigh RV Resort on October 14th, the weather was wonderful and we were happy to be back. While we were on the road Bob ordered a new...

Nov 29, 2015 - Trip South

With much anticipation, Dan and I left Delaware on Nov. 11th for our Southern home for the winter. On the way, we stopped for a few nights in Nashville,TN and stayed at Two Rivers Campground. One night we went to the Grand Ol Opry to see Ronnie Milsap and strolled Broadway(Music Row)which was elbow to elbow with young people who were visiting all the bars along the way with country music blaring out of each one. The nice part of the experience was that we took a shuttle into town from the campgrounds and left our car parked at the...

Mar 28, 2015 - Back Home

Our trip went by way too fast! We arrived back home on March 25th. and the 28th we had snow showers. Brrrr! We left Florida the morning of the 23rd and traveled in the rain, again, to Palmetto Shores RV Resort in Summerton, S.C. for the night. The next morning we left with the intention of staying in VA Beach for the night but then as we neared our destination, we decided to go on over the Bridge/Tunnel and pull into Cherrystone RV Park, a short distance away. This cut out the busy morning traffic on the bridge and got us one step closer to...
