Oct 29, 2014 - Alabama here we come!

We are getting everything in order to make our journey south at the end of November. So much to do, eg. stop newspapers, mail, cable, etc; follow-ups with doctors, dentists, eye surgeon, and meds. This time we have decided to have someone winterize our house while we are gone so we won't have to worry about power failure during a winter storm. We will also celebrate Christmas with family in New York State before we leave so we have presents to purchase and plans to be made to get together. Once everything is done, we will be on our way to...

Apr 29, 2014 - Leaving our winter home of Foley Alabama

Left our winter home just 1 day ahead of the horrible storms they had. Gulf Shores got 21 in. in a 24 hr period. Pensacola we heard got more then that. Horrible rain and winds. Prayers for everyone that has been in the storms all over. We had a good trip and got to Tampa, Fl. April 31st. Staying at Happy Traveler RV Park.

Apr 13, 2014 - Alabama Must End

A relaxing couple of days in Foley Alabama with not much to do but great weather. One little minor fiasco when my oxygen concentrator stopped working. The two pieces of good news are that I did bring plenty of supplemental oxygen bottles this trip so was not without oxygen and American Home Patient is fantastic. The problem occurred at the end of the day on Friday, but they still managed to have a replacement unit delivered to me Saturday morning. The only thing we had to do was return the old unit by FedEx at their cost. Wow!! That's...

No Snow For Us

Apr 12, 2014 - Bye Bye Louisiana

All good things must come to an end, so we had a Last Crawfish Supper at Hawks on Thursday night, and oh they were good. This was after stocking up on some crawfish tails, alligator tenderloin and boudin balls for the freezer. Wish we had a bigger freezer. Half the boudin balls didn't survive last night. We are now in Foley Alabama to do some tag swapping on the truck, and just might find some Royal Reds and Throwed rolls while we're here! There's also a barbeque stand on the way to the Royal Reds that we discovered last trip which has been...

No Snow For Us

Mar 27, 2014 - Foley, AL - March 2014

March was a busy month for us. There was Mardi Gras...always a great time! We worked on sorting all our “stuff” to see what we could leave in the storage unit, Dave stripped old caulking and replaced it, and installed a new light over the door. We added a new member to our traveling family, our pink flamingo, Gertie. We got together with some old friends, Whit & Barbara, and made some new ones, Joyce & Bob. There were little get-togethers everywhere in the park as most of the snowbirds prepared to hit the road. It's always hard to leave...

Feb 28, 2014 - Foley, AL - February 2014

This year we decided to something we've talked about for several years. We renewed our wedding vows on Saturday, February 15th, at Lulu's Restaurant in Gulf Shores. Lulu is actually Lucy Buffet, Jimmy Buffet's “crazy sistah.” This was the 6th year for the vow renewal at Lulu's beach. So, along with about 250 others, we got dressed in our best beach attire and renewed our vows with the Reverend Jane A. (“Hurricane Jane”) Tarver officiating. Lulu's provided cake and champagne, and we received an official vow renewal certificate. Oh, and we...

Feb 23, 2014 - Stormy Day

Woke up to a massive thunderstorm and it has been continuous from 5:00AM till now 4:00PM with no sign of a let up. That's why there are only a few not so good pics of the new truck, and the short co-owner. Needless to say, Linda is a bit height challenged for a 3/4 ton truck without running boards. I have a step to help her get in and out till the running boards are installed tomorrow, but it is hilarious to watch her getting in and out. Her nose is just at the top of the side rails, so she can't even look into the bed. If I didn't love her...

No Snow For Us

Feb 20, 2014 - Uh Oh

Oh what a day for our memory banks, if we have any memory left. Both of us are pretty certain that senility has struck with a fury. Why? Tune in tomorrow to see how we spent the majority of today. Unless we wise up tonight, you will agree that we have lost our minds. But it sure is going to be a nice mindless life ahead of us. Now for the part of today that I can share with you today. We had the rest of our Royal Reds for lunch, and dinner at Lamberts (Home of Throwed Rolls). Really can't explain it, but my Mom would have slapped me into...

No Snow For Us

Feb 19, 2014 - Movin' on

Monday was another beach day with a bit of packing up in the afternoon. Monday night was our last bible study with Pastor Jeremy until January. We truly enjoyed that unexpected benefit of Emerald Beach RV Park and have a much better understanding of Revelation, though far from complete. Yesterday was the most beautiful day of our stay in Navarre, and we spent half of it preparing to leave. Not quite true, a lot of that half day was spent chatting with new found friends. An unplanned and unwanted early wake up for me as it usually is on a...

No Snow For Us

Feb 1, 2014 - Heat, Ears, Royal Reds Docs and More

Thursday we woke up to no heat while our water was still frozen. Much to our joy, both were restored by eleven and the temps began a slow upward rise which continues through today. What I thought was a hearing aid problem led us to an audiologist in Foley, Alabama on Friday. The not so bad news is there is no hearing aid problem. The still not so bad news is, the audiologist told me "you're full of wax" and need to visit the first medical facility of this trip. The good news is that Billy's Seafood is in Foley and they still sell Royal...

No Snow For Us

Jan 9, 2014 - Ollie

On January 8th, Ollie started having bathroom issues and stopped eating, so on Jan 9th, off we went to see his vet. Blood tests and x-rays were all normal, but the ultra sound showed that all of Ollie's major organs were abnormal and most likely cancerous. Surgery was the only way to know for sure, but it was highly probable Ollie would not survive it...it would be like operating on a 90+ year old (he was 13 ½). His organs were slowly shutting down. We had always promised Ollie that we would never let him be in pain. So we made that most...

Nov 29, 2013 - Foley, AL - Nov 2013

We started the month out celebrating our good friend's birthday. You may recognize Elsie from when she and Bob visited us in West Virginia. There were about a dozen or so of us from the park and we all got together and took over a local pizza place. Elsie was so darn surprised she cried! Veteran's Day is celebrated in all the little towns around here with parades, so off we went with Bob and Elsie to Elberta to see their parade. It was a beautiful day and we saw everything from the local fire department rigs to USAF JROTC unit to Cub...
