YES - we are STILL in Decatur, AL. With the deaths in our family we were in limbo for a few days while arrangements were being made. Weather started with thunder & lightning during the night so we opted to stay another day & not drive in the weather - means for long travel days to get to DC but we really try to avoid driving in unpleasant weather conditions! Which was a good choice as it rained ALL day with thunder, lightning & some hail at times. Not to mention we were pretty wiped out & needed some time to catch our breath.

Apr 11, 2011 - Flew to California for funerals
Took DaisyMae to a very nice Pet Resort in Huntsville, one exit away from the airport – perfect location. We were a little concerned for her as she has never been left at such a place, she’s always been taken care of by those who know & love her – but she did fine! Dick’s memorial service on Tues., April 12 was arranged by the Apple Valley Fire department – several passed & present Chief’s & fellow firemen that knew Dick (he was fire Chief of Apple Valley for many years, until he retired) eulogized him in a very touching way, as did 3 of...

He hadn't been feeling well, was getting ready to go to the ER when he collapsed with cardiac arrest & passed away last night. He was 50 years young, leaving his loving wife, Marianne, son Wesley & daughter Alison, as well as his parents (Pete & Diane) & many people who loved him. Our family is enduring allot of pain at this time.

Fri., 4/1 Decatur, AL – Point Mallard Campground We have been in such miserable, overcast weather, we needed to find something pleasant. We decided to come back to Point Mallard that is a city park in Decatur, AL. We stayed here on our way to Nashville last month and just really like it here. There has been allot of rain, things are pretty wet & soggy (not good with a dog) but the sun has been out since we arrived & is suppose to be around until Monday, so we’re staying until Monday! Don’t have any plans, there isn’t much in the way of...

Traveled 254 miles today. Staying at Point Mallard Campground in Decatur, Alabama. We had only planned to stay 1 night but it started raining so decided not to travel in the rain, good idea as it RAINED NON STOP all day! I spent the day doing laundry, ironing, cleaning & reorganizing. Daisy went to the Vet for up date on her shots. Great campground owned by the City of Decatur, surrounded by sports complex, including 3 baseball fields, soccer fields, water park, golf course, & paved bike trail completely around the park. All near the...

We arrived at Point Mallard Campground in Decatur, Alabama yesterday. How nice to finally have warm weather!! It's 82 today and the sun feels great. Point Mallard is quite a place. There are 210 sites, full hookups, a large water park, an 18 hole golf course, a year-round ice rink, hiking and biking trails, tennis courts, and even a wedding chapel!! This complex is owned by the city of Decatur and the prices are quite reasonable. We've decided to stay here three nights, unwind, explore a bit and just rest. There's a hurricane heading to the...

Point Mallard Campground Robert graduated from Athens State University on Aug 29, 2009. We got into town early to get the rig in the shop which was a good thing as there was more wrong than we thought and it took longer to fix than we planned. While here we did the usual doctor visits and all that stuff that need to get done when you are only in town occasionally. The most important thing I missed doing was seeing my friends. Megan got into town Thursday before graduation so the four of us got to spend some family time together which was...

Friday, August 7, 2009 Got ready for our drive to Montgomery, Alabama to meet with Carrie. Met Carrie at 12:30pm at the Flying “J” Truck Stop. This way we were able to stay on I-65 and head on up to Indiana. Said our “Goodbyes” to Ernestine which was sad. Hated to say goodbye, we will miss her. Have enjoyed being with her and mother this past month and a half. We drove as far as Decatur, Alabama for the night. We stayed at the Point Mallard Campground. It was a very nice place with lots of trees. It was right next to the Golf Coarse and...

Point Mallard RV Park We spent a lot of time here going to doctors appointments and getting Bob set up in the VA system. We hooked up with Robert as often as we could and even got him a starter set of golf clubs for his birthday. While in town we hit balls a few times and even went to play 9 holes. Robert does really well for only having had one lesson and just getting a few pointers from us. Now when we are here we will have more stuff we can do with him. The rest of the time was spent running errands and getting caught up on winter...

May 6, 2007 - Overnight stop Decatur, AL
Tonight was just an overnight stop after a nice drive up from Mississippi over about 90 Miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway through Tupelo. If you have never taken the drive which runs from Natchez, MS almost to Nashville, TN you are missing one of the best drives in the country. If you idea of a good time is driving at 45-50 MPH and stopping at historic locations and sites, this is for you. We have done the whole length and some parts multiple times. When we are not traveling for work we love to stay off the interstates and see the local...
