Our original plan was to stay in Birmingham, AL for a couple of days but that didn't happened. We sailed right through into a Walmart on the far side of the city. We only stopped here to have lunch and revise our plan. We ended in a campground/marina with a great site with lake view. We were all settled by 4pm - great afternoon/evening watching the lake traffic. Uneventful day - always good. Aug 17, 2010 - Trip to Alabama

We had over 300 mile to travel so we got up early & hit the road. Our next stop would be in Cropwell, Alabama. Our drive was uneventful & long. It was hot & humid out & we did get some sprinkles but they didn't last long. Once we arrived in Cropwell we checked into the Lakeside Landing RV Park. We were lucky enough to get a space right next to the shoreline of Lake Logan Martin. We decided to stay for a couple of days & unwind a little, but we found ourselves running around anyways. Sep 24, 2008 - Louisana, Mississippi and Alabama (almost)

More than a good night's rest is needed when you plan to drive across these states. In many places the road conditions made us long for Alaska. At least in Alaska they didn't call them expressways and it was understood that if maintained any speed at all you wouldn't have a coach when you arrived. In their defense, some portions of the highways have been re-paved, but the roads are still terrible. Beautiful countryside and the traffic was not too heavy. In no time we were crossing the mighty Mississippi river into Vicksburg. The first time...
