Aug 6, 2012 - Last Day In Alabama for now

August 6, 2012 When you RV on a long trip, you can take things as slowly as you like. Today was one of these days as we arranged for some maintenance and went sightseeing in the local town. Ate some good cornbread too and locally produced vegetables..yummy. The area is very pretty and the recent rains have all areas very green and full of flowers. Everybody we have contacted has been extremely nice so that thing about Southern Hospitality has been in evidence all around. So see y’all..

Aug 5, 2012 - Alabama, Clanton, to be Exact

August 5, 2012 Okay, Anita told me not to say it so I will not say or use at any time the phrase, “Sweet Home Alabama”. It would be unoriginal and totally overused. So there. We left Florida, crossed into Alabama, some Buffaloes, before we could photograph them standing alongside some very small donkeys..who knew? We drove 300 miles today so it took awhile but we gained an hour, coming into the central time zone. We also saw some hills, which people living in Florida don’t often see. Makes the drive a bit more interesting because you have...

Heading for Bainbridge, GA... hope we beat the rain at least until we hook up again tonight! ^_^ Oh well.... wouldn't be the first time P got wet setting up... Luckily it doesn't take long. One of the fun things of doing this is last night we were walking the dogs and a couple were setting out by their picnic table. We asked where they were from during our chat and they said Northern MN... (!) Seems they live in Emily, MN during the summer....about 6 miles from Dale & Lois's cabin... and.... the best part... they spend the winter about 20...

Aug 30, 2011 - Clanton AL

Today I woke the birthday girl up earlier than she would have liked to get ready to go to the Navy base and watch the Blue Angels practice. During the airshow season (March-November) they do a free practice show at 8:30 each Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Best deal in Pensacola as far as I’m concerned. There were only maybe 500 people there watching a full show – they have bleachers, (set up closer to the flight line than at most airshows), bottled water and T-shirts for sale and traffic was non-existent when the show was over. Pretty cool...

May 20, 2011 - Clanton, Alabama

We left Foley around 8:00 this morning and traveled 212 miles to Dandy RV Park in Clanton, Alabama. We had a nice easy drive on the Interstate and by 1:00, we were all set up and relaxing with a cold drink. This park has only been here for about 6 months and they are still working on some parts of it. The sites are all gravel and pretty level. The pull-throughs are very long. We were able to keep the truck hooked up to the RV and still have plenty of room to park the car at the rear. There is cable TV and the WiFi is very good. The park is...
