Nov 18, 2011 - There's no place like home!
So seeing as I haven't updated y'all (I am so American) in a while, thought a quiet Friday evening would be the perfect opportunity to do it.. Halloween in America was BIG! We carved lots of pumpkins, went to see Rocky Horror - which was AMAZING. Lots of water, confetti, silly string, cards, loo roll, toast and other such things being thrown all over place, as well as men in underwear walking around..very entertaining but never thought I'd see that in Alabama! We also went to a Halloween party and got to dress up! Lauren was Dorothy, Eddie...Jump to full entry
Nov 6, 2011 - Off to see the wizard..
Heyyy , Not too much has happened since I last wrote on here..We went to a Halloween party last weekend which was fun. I was Dorothy :) I thought you were supposed to be something scary on Halloween but apparently in America anything goes. I carved my first and second ever pumpkins, and they were not terrible! I did not enjoy pulling the middle out though soo slimy! This weekend I have been to the cinema to see Puss in Boots, yes I am a 5 year old. It was actually really funny, although not sure I should admit that I really enjoyed a film...Jump to full entry
Nov 6, 2011 - Adventures Today
Left RV Park today and headed southeast. About 100 mi before getting to Birmingham, we had a flat tire on the trailer. There were no shops open anywhere around. We pulled in back of a convenience store and Dad changed the tire. Everything was good and we were back on the road again. Went through Birmingham about 4:30pm on Sunday and the traffic was pretty hectic -- can't imagine it during a busy work day.Jump to full entry

We are staying in the Oak Mountain State Park, about 15 miles from Birmingham, full service camp site with a golf course minutes away and Wi-Fi, quite an unexpected and pleasant surprise. It’s not lakeside but will do in a pinch. We continue to be...Jump to full entry
Oct 17, 2011 - Leeds Alabama
We came to Leeds to visit the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, after hearing about it from Bernie at Rockville, HD and Victor from the Old Glory HOG Chapter. I'm told this guy George Barber had a dairy business and lots of land, racing cars and motorcycles is/was just his hobby. It appears from the looks of this building and the collection of motorcycles and cars in it that the dairy business was a big one and a profitable one. This is a 740 acre motorsports PARK, which in addition to the museum building, has a 2.4 mile Grand Prix, road...Jump to full entry
Oct 16, 2011 - Pascagoula, MS to Birmingham, AL
It was actually not Pascagoula, it was Moss Point, Mississippi that we left from this morning, and not Birmingham that we arrived at. We actually went to Leeds, whcih is a suburb of Birmingham, just to the east side out I-20 towards Atlanta. I never realized how much there is of Alabama until we had to cross the whole state from south to north. Not counting our stop for a day in Leeds, it was over a days' drive from the Gulf Coast to the Tennessee line. We had wanted to explore the Mobile Bay area, but since we had a long way to go we just...Jump to full entry
Oct 12, 2011 - Origami Champion.
Sooooo... I have been pretty boring this week. Friday was pretty fun. We went halloween shopping, when I say shopping we actually bought nothing. But it was really fun, they literally have whole shops just for halloween!! In the end we ordered our costumes off of the internet, we are doing a wizard of oz theme and I get to be dorothy :) We spent most of the day playing rock band at our friends house and then went and played mini-golf. I was terrible, but no suprise there. After that we went to Yoghurt Mountain, my new favourite place...Jump to full entry

Sep 10, 2011 - Birmingham
My sweet sister, Sandy Lake, saw an opportunity for a little mini reunion and organized a lunch time get-together in Birmingham on Saturday. Well, it helped that she and her husband, Bryan, needed to meet up with their son, John, a newly minted freshman at the University of Alabama ("Roll Tide"...I can only do that for John, ha ha). So we found a place central enough that even my brother and his wife, Craig & Cathy Hampton, came down, too! To understand how truly remarkable this is, both couples had to drive about 2-1/2 hours each way - the...Jump to full entry
Sep 8, 2011 - "I wanna be pop-u-laar"
hello lovelies missing home lots but just keep thinking how lucky I am to be here and it goes away instead of booking an October trip away we might not go anywhere and save money for Christmas instead we've had offers from people to go to atlanta, and a football game etc which would be equally as fun and cheaper than a whole trip away also instead of an October trip we've been looking at the Tennessee state fair for next weekend which is cheap to go to on the greyhound bus and looks really really fun with loads of rides and stalls and...Jump to full entry
