Hatherley outside Gloucester a way out in the countryside was a joy to wake up to. A peaceful night's sleep for all; cool and breezy and autumn is sure setting in quickly. Taking our time this morning we left a little later than would be usual on a road trip and headed west and south, crossing the Severn and making our way down the west bank towards the Bristol Channel. 2011 UK and Ireland

Oct 14, 2008 - Llandrindod Wells

Weather: Cool - Light rain We left our accommodation at Astor House in Bath - never having seen our hosts. Very strange! And then we were off on our way to Wales - the place of unpronounceable towns. We took quiet some time after crossing the Lower Severn River, before we saw the true Welsh countryside - which is just splendid. We stopped at Abergavenny for morning tea, and wandered around this lovely town. It was market day and so there was lots of fresh produce on offer, and also a man selling owls. Lyn thought they were stuffed birds...
