Sep 15, 2008 - Day04 Cardiff

The best laid plans!!! Keren: This was supposed to be my first day of the study tour and it began with checking emails frantically hoping that my contact in Cardiff had replied to my email last week with a time and a place and a phone number. ... Many phone calls later to the National Patient Safety Agency office in Cardiff had me none the wiser. ... I already had that!!! The drive up the M4 towards Cardiff was punctuated with phone calls in the hope of connecting, but to no avail. ... Oh well, it was an opportunity to have a look at Cardiff. ... Cardiff CastleMoney from the export of Welsh coal … why not renovate a castle? Georgia: Cardiff castle was great! In the main buildings where the royals lived was absolutely amazing! Around the 1850’s the castles interior was redesigned and refurbished. ...

May 31, 2007 - ARTICLE - Wales, United Kingdom Day 21-23

We enjoyed driving around the rest of the area and made our way over to Cardiff, in the south of the country, on what would prove to be one of our most adventuresome travel days yet. ... Our plan was to drive to Cardiff, catch a train to Fishguard, hop on the ferry to Rosslare Harbour, Ireland, then catch another train to Waterford where we would grab a rental car for our time in Ireland. ... The drive took about twice as long as expected (those roads are very slow), and once we got into Cardiff, we were misinformed of the train times and had to wait six hours for the next train to Fishguard at 10 pm. ...

Feb 26, 2007 - Castles in the sky... Cardiff

That night we dolled ourselves up and were driven into Cardiff Castle where we had a four course dinner and traditional Welsh entertainment in the castle undercroft, that was definitely a highlight for me and probably one of the highlights of my overseas experiences to date mainly because I have a serious thing for castles and liked the idea of pretending to be a Princess for the night (you just can't do that at home). ... On the bus on the way down some of the people we were with had a bit too much to drink and weren't feeling the best come dinner, Lis and I on the other hand had been good girls and saved ourselves for that night so after dinner we headed to the main party street in Cardiff for some dancing. ... The next day we basically ate our way home, up early for the buffet breakfast and into Cardiff for the day for a buffet Chinese lunch. ... Cardiff itself isn't the prettiest of cities but the Castle I think gives it its character. ...

On a whim, we bussed off to Cardiff in Wales for a night out on the town with the 'self proclaimed' Mayor of Cardiff, Mr Dean Daly. ... Well, not really, we met Dean on our tour around Tibet and he invited us to visit him in Cardiff if we were ever in the area. ... To prove that you should be careful what you offer people you meet on the road, we took Dean up on his offer and caught the bus out to Cardiff. ... Dean is a great lover of trivia, so we did some research to test his knowledge of Cardiff and Wales. ... Unfortunately we left our camera at Dean's place and have no photos to include of Cardiff. ...
