Jun 12, 2011 - Spean Bridge and the Fort Augustus Locks

Today we make our way into the Scottish Highlands. First of all we follow Loch Lomond and then a series of other lochs and canals until we reach Fort Augustus – here we come across another set of canal locks, this time a ‘stair’ of five. . We enjoy watching the boats being taken through each lock – four at a time. This time the locks are fully manned – the lock men don’t have much of an opinion of some of the yachtsmen – according to them ‘they might have money to buy these things but that doesn’t mean they have any brains’.
