Jul 17, 2012 - Llandudno

It looked as if it was going to be a good day so we headed along the coast to Llandudno. The very genteel town sits on a headland with the Llandudno Bay to the east and the Conwy Bay to the west. On the Llandudno Bay side there is beach and promanade with views of the Great Orme to the north and Little Orme to the south , both limestone hummocks. We found a great resaurant called "The Seahorse" nearby and had a delicious supper. Next day, Friday, we explored the area. It is far more rugged than the Cotswolds, but what they call mountains are not really...

This morning after breakfast we packed up our backpacks and headed down to the ferry port to catch the ferry from Dun Laoghaire back to Holyhead in Wales. Upon our arrival we caught the train and decided to get off in Llandudno (pronounced Clan did no)......on the way we passed thru the Welsh town that has the longest name in the world....(please see picture for spelling)....it has 59 letters and I doubt that anyone except a Welshman could pronounce it....The town of Llandudno is a seaside resort and retirement village. There are a number...
